  • Thanks again, much appreciated.

  • maps.me is a good app too, doesn't have public transport directions though.

Google maps is great-you can cache the area you want either in settings or zooming to cover the area you want and typing ok maps in the search bar.

  • You can download more than 10 if you download them onto your computer and load them onto your phone from there.

  • Cleaning the rims with aclohol make a noticable difference in performance too.

  • aclohol

Probably best to type before consuming, rather than the other way around.

  • The bike I'm about to buy has 11 speed 105. I don't really like Shimano (possibly because I'm used to SRAM). Is it stupid to swap 105 for Rival, or would my personal preference outweigh any differences in objective things like quality and performance?

I'm conscious that if I start trying to get used to it once I've bought the bike, the 105 stuff I'd be looking to sell would have lost value.

  • Money pit, just deal with the 105.

  • would my personal preference outweigh any differences in objective things like quality and performance?

Personal preference is the only reason to choose between Shimano, SRAM and Campag. Whether it's worth the expense is something only you can decide. Since hood shape and shifting ergonomics probably make more difference to the user experience than frame choice, wouldn't it be better to pick a bike which has SRAM as original equipment?

  • There are some Rival shifters on here which, together with the Ribble discounts on derailleurs, should cost less than I'd get for selling the 105.

    Money pile.

  • I've tried but the SRAM-equipped version of the same model is out of stock now, and not being renewed for 2017.

I'm basically trying to recreate that for the same price as the 105 version.

  • Are Private Messages working on this site?

The last four I've sent, to four different people, have all gone unanswered.

  • It comes down to personal preference in the end. I've never got on with double tap though.

I currently have bikes with Campag, Shimano and SRAM (eTap) and seem to adjust okay when swapping between them though.

  • I thought I'd try road shoes, got a pair of bont riots and I think I've immediately stripped a thread whilst fitting the cleats.

Fitted them, did 'em up to what I thought would be fine, tried them and the cleat shifted when I unclipped. So repositioned them, did them up a bit tighter and the front one just keeps spinning. Any idea what size t-nut I need, where I can get them and how difficult they are to replace?

The bont site has them for a tenner for six, but I imagine it's the sort of thing I could pick up for a quid at b&q or something?

  • did 'em up to what I thought would be fine

When was your torque wrench calibrated?

  • My torque wrench was calibrated when I bought it, but alas it is in London and I am in Herts with my shiny new shoes and a set of Allen keys...

  • What's the correct torque for shoe cleat bolts? Mine came undone the other day.

  • 5-6Nm for Shimano. Check with your shoe manufacturer, especially if your shoes have insert nuts made from something other than steel. I'd be inclined to use Loctite under the circumstances.

  • Thanks - Giro shoes. Will go for loctite option.

I've heard good things about this
    boots.com/en/Savlon-Advanced-Healing-Gel-50g-Tube_122250/

Just came across several reviews that said the product/formula has changed and is no longer good...

  • I didn't try this stuff in the end, used hydrocolloid dressings instead which were amazing.

  • Has anyone got any recommendations for print shops in zone 1? I need 500 A5 flyers for thursday. Is there a forum printer/forum approved printer?

  • I've used KallKwik for my conference posters and they were very fast and good quality. Rates were good too.

  • There's a good independent printers in Wardour St, I haven't had flyers done there but you could just call them.

  • Just wonder if there might be any long term possible damage to a frame if it takes a 30mm seat collar and I put a 29.8mm one on? It fits fine and we are talking about 0.2mm difference... I did this with my £50 pompino and it was fine, but I am talking about my new Mash Work, so being extremely careful with it during the 'honeymood' period...

  • It's within tolerance, no harm done. The practical range taking of even badly designed clamps is easily twice that.
