Thermal moccamaster (avoid the hot plate one) would be the thing. Always makes awesome coffee without you having to pay any attention to it, you have a litre of it on hand and you can just pour yourself half a cup. It stays hot for hours and tastes good for at least the first of those. You will find during the early part of parenthood that hot, easily available coffee significantly trumps delicate nuances in the flavour.
