He's a very classy ultrarunner. He's also done Spartathlon, Badwater, Arch2Arc and is currently training for the 6633 (350 miles in the Arctic). We did a 2-man Channel swim a few years back.

Read somewhere that more people have been on the summit of Everest than have swum the Channel.

Everest - 4000+ since 1953
Channel - 1400 since 1875

Edit - just found another interesting fact. On a single day in 2012, 234 people summited Everest. c.50 solo Channel swims happen each year.
