  • Yeah, thought about that... The mudguard mount is mid-fork and would need one of those cylinders attaching. But the light then just attaches to that with o-rings. I ideally want something a little more secure.

  • Yeah, upside down is the next option, just a bit worried about water running in as the cable ports will be on the top that way. That bell spacer looks good, might have to see if I can hunt one down.

  • What's stopping you bolting the arm of the light straight to the mid fork mount?

  • Hadn't considered it actually. However, just went out for a ride around the block and my concerns about the angle seem unfounded... Good throw, decent amount of light. Overall it seems the location is probably OK!

  • These light need to be angle down a lots to prevent blinding incoming road user which is annoying because it shorten the beam distance drastically.

I managed to mount my E3 directly onto a bolt with a modified SON light bracket.

  • The go pro camera mount works perfectly for this light. And it's adjustable.

  • Thanks, is there a particular one you'd recommend? Does the light end up upside down?

  • Zee crank looks great on this.

  • I'm considering snapping up the new version of this single speeder. Can you (as an owner) confirm about how much space there is to fit road cranks to it? I presume it's just the same as the geared frame so shouldn't be a problem

  • I recently got last years version, partly based on @Shinscar having one. I absolutely love it.

Frame is slightly different to the geared one someone else has that I've compared it to, but I can check on mine when home later on.

  • The chainset it comes with is a MTB width (73mm) but the eccentric BB shell is only 68mm width, so has the usual 3 spacers to bring it out to 73mm.

So, yes, it should work - assuming two things: there's sufficient space for the chainrings to not rub on the DS chainstay (will depend on how many chainrings you plan to run probably) and that the 2017 model is the same as the 2015 model!

  • Great reply, thanks. I took a look at the bike and there appears to be approx 20mm of crank arm clearance on either side with the stock cranks. The chainring was my concern, but I think I'll have to run it on the outside anyway, which means I'll probably get away with at least a 46

  • I have the SS arkose. Running a SRAM red crank with the small ring out, and there's still room. You have to use the ring out with road cranks anyways to get a decent chainline

  • Bossman. Thanks

  • Looking at it, there's still more room to be had if you push the eccentric bottom bracket forwards, i have it almost all the way back to the chainstays.

  • So these were reduced to about £700... Looks like I'll be swapping the Arkose frame for something a bit more special. Remains to be seen whether it's the version with extra bottle bosses on the fork or not.

  • Since @amey posted a link to those, I've been biting nails debating that. Not a fan of the paint scheme, but should make for a killer all rounder

  • Hard to resist... I had been considering them even without the reduction.

I could've gone for the orange version and sized down, but think slightly bigger is better (frame bag, foot/guard clearance etc) in this case, so red/whit it is. Think (hope) it'll grow on me!

  • Arrived damaged, sigh... back to Spain it goes...

Edit: In case anyone was wondering, it's not the version with bottle cage mounts on the fork. But's it's about 50% off rrp, so shrug

  • Bollocks! Replacement on its way?

  • E-mailed them, just waiting for a reply. Still in stock in my size, so hoping for a straight swap.

  • Fingers crossed. Looked at one of these, great frame, a bit beyond my pocket at full rrp.

  • Was it a thru-axle model, the niner?

  • Thru-axle rear, QR fork.
