  • Eh? I didn't mention genders.

  • That's what I took it as given that we're talking about Laura Trott and Katie Archibald and your use of terminology does have relate to one sex more than the other...

  • I think your suit of armour needs another coat of white paint mate.

  • This is very confusing now.

  • Wait I thought you were talking about Laura Trott posting here. Confuse.

Also - guys - reddit is that way with yer 'triggered' and 'white knight' comments >>>>

  • I don't think Laura Trott was on here, but I know Juliet Elliott ( who wrote the article in Oliver's link ) was.

  • @Oliver Schick stop confusing everybody.

  • This is what I now understand.

  • After that, I'm at a loss :-/

  • "Katie is a lovely girl, one of the few cyclists that come across as a person rather than a cyclist if you know what I mean (put simply, most are cunts, she aint)."

I think it's pretty clear that M_V wasn't being gender specific. You would have had a better case if you'd pulled ME up for saying:

    "She seems lovely, doesn't she?"

... although I would have countered that by saying I could apply the very same adjective to Esteban Chaves, who does appear to be a lovely bloke.

  • Chaves is a fine looking woman.

  • Don't tell Mrs Trees that: she thinks he's adorable.

  • Doesn't even matter cos my "triggered" comment got deleted. Lfgss censorship? how progressive...

@Gustav being a social justice warrior is fine, but aim your anger at those that deserve it, next time you get triggered have a think about what happens in Chechnya, because your accusation isn't doing anybody justice

  • Look mate, I understand from your avatar that you find humour in repetition, in this case internet memes, but the whole 'triggered' memes comes from arseholes belittling victims of rape ffs.

Clearly people, including the owner of this website thinks that's a shitty thing to do. If you think it's 'censorship' for this site to be welcoming to a wide range of people regardless of accidents of birth or things that have happened to them out of their control, and if you use the term 'social justice warrior' unironically, perhaps you should fuck off to some shithole like reddit or the chans which are a 'safe space' for that kind of bullshit, because it isn't fucking welcome here.

  • "If you think it's 'censorship' for this site to be welcoming to a wide range of people regardless of accidents of birth or things that have happened to them out of their control" whoaaaa slow down! We both know that has sweet fuck all to do with anything.

Rape victims? If anything you're the one belittling them by bringing their turmoil into an unrelated online argument. Well done on using italics though. prat

  • James., please, if you didn't intend the cross-reference, just say that you didn't intend it. That's perfectly sufficient. Unfortunately, repeated uses of the same phrase like that tend to come across as if they spring from the same origin, and I for one don't think it's worth prolonging an argument around that.

You may disagree, but at best you'll be ruining some good opportunities for bad jokes, as I was just going to tell BareNecessities to his avatar how he was confusing everyone by posting a picture of Julio riding a mountain bike that Jezston may have thought was of Laura Trott riding a mountain bike, and I was also going to tell Gustav that his syntax is highly suspect, but I didn't know that 'triggered' was a meme and so unpleasant, and even if you didn't intend the unpleasantness, it's just made this thread a little unpleasant just by association. I think I would have raised it with you directly, but for what it's worth I think deleting the comment, in the circumstances, is the right thing to do.

  • I used to be shocked, when I first came to this forum, about how off topic and sour a thread can go, so quickly. Unfortunately it doesn't shock me any more. We have this debacle, the Tour of Britain thread has turned from a celebration of fine cycling/cyclists into a raging debate on who pays taxes where.
It's great to see a forum celebrating all facets of cycling culture turn into the rest of tinterweb. We all deserve a pat on the back.
Peace n love as always. Jon

  • This never would have happened if Laura Trott was actually on here. Goddamit.

  • raging debate

    Hyperbole much?

  • That wasn't Laura Trott, that was Katie Archibald.

  • Off-topic-ness (what's a topic?) is one of the forum's glories. Flame wars on here used to be subverted and funny 95% of the time. Subverted flame wars are fine. Boring flame wars are not.

  • It's a whole load of fucking nothing anyway. M_V posts something not even remotely sexist, but it's in a thread about a woman, therefore is taken as sexist (?). Then there's an argument about whether meme's are childish or who has the superior sense of humour. Then someone gets their knickers in a twist about the word "triggered", which is generally used when someone is getting all righteous for no reason.

Everyone chill the fuck out and stop thinking people are being sexist/racist/twats and get off your damn high horses.

  • What the fuck do you have against horses?

  • Not all horses, just the high ones. Fuck those guys.
