That's what I took it as given that we're talking about Laura Trott and Katie Archibald and your use of terminology does have relate to one sex more than the other...

I think it's pretty clear that M_V wasn't being gender specific. You would have had a better case if you'd pulled ME up for saying:
"She seems lovely, doesn't she?"
... although I would have countered that by saying I could apply the very same adjective to Esteban Chaves, who does appear to be a lovely bloke.
