  • Bump for going for kebaps on Wednesday or Persepolis on Saturday. Anyone?

We could go to Easts afterwards on Wednesday.

  • Away for both :(

  • I've been slack lately, Wednesday's gonna be mental at work and Saturday I'll be in Boston :)

  • Anyone have any ideological opposition to these products?

NB - don't read the comments, obvs.

  • Not really. But dairy isn't good for you, so I wouldn't eat it.

  • We can't do Saturday 17th I'm afraid

  • hi guys, just seeing if anyone is interested -

    http://www.bulkpowders.co.uk/complete-vegan-blend.html

My girlfriend bought 1kg this in chocolate peanut flavour, before realising she hates chocolate peanut flavour after one shake and now can't send it back.

Anyone interested at £10? just drop me a pm.

  • Cheers, Kat, it doesn't look as if anyone can make it for either date. Let's try again sometime soon!

  • As I said somewhere above, I won't use them. There's plenty of interesting food to be getting on with.

  • As a non-vegan, I'm tremendously keen on the prospect of environmentally-friendly milk. Also means I can stop wasting expensive raw milk in my tea.

On purely ideological grounds, I can't see why anyone should oppose the process. It's a similar development to industrial insulin production.

  • I'd be up for the Wednesday Kebap in Shoreditch, if it's going ahead. I could go earlier than 6:30 and need to leave by 7:30.

    1. Oliver
    2. Bea
  • Ah, cool. An hour should be enough time to wolf down a kebap or 23. :)

I put 6:30 because some people have in the past found it difficult to get there before that time. Happy to meet earlier. 6?

  • Sure, 6 is good. The weather looks to be great! I'll pm my number.

  • Lovely to meet you tonight, Bea!

As a public service announcement, the döner is just as a döner should be, very tasty and very messy. Recommended.

  • Nice piece on the BBC site about isinglass in beer, worth a read

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-37350233

  • On purely ideological grounds, I can't see why anyone should oppose the process.

Me neither, but I went to a London Vegans thing once where a speaker talked about milk (and meat) being produced in this way and there being a general acceptance that this was abhorrent. It wasn't really explained why.

  • Good to meet you too, Oliver!

The kebab was good and I was glad to see that the stall faces Shoreditch High Street. I hope they get a lot of trade. The kebab was, for sure, one of the messiest things I've eaten in a while - black attire advised.

  • "It takes away a lot of the flavour from the beer . . . beer doesn't
have to be clear - it doesn't matter what it looks like, and isinglass
    is just used for aesthetics."

    Good to know!

  • For anyone in Norwich, last night I bumped into the sister of the woman who runs this, and she pointed it out to me:

    http://www.biakitchen.co.uk/

(I expect Norvicians already know about it, anyway.)

  • If anyone's around I'll be at the indian veg place in angel tonight from 6ish. Never been. Should be good. 7 pand all you can muster

  • Off to Persepolis tomorrow, can't wait!

^^ Bia Kitchen is a decent market stall. Not so keen on the pulled jackfruit bap, but the "meatball" hoagie is v nice and the beer-battered buffalo cauliflower with blue cheese sauce is magical

  • The Bia burger is nice and they do a beetroot burger as well that is very good.

  • Cow's milk is for cows. Agreed.

Has anyone seen this new allergen free milk? Only in the U.S currently - called Ripple? Made from peas...

  • SEVEN??!! I've been in London too long....when I first went it was 2.50! 😳

  • Does any one have a list of all vegan places worth visiting in East London (Shoreditch/Hackney)?
