Sometimes I need to be grateful for the b's simplicity. Although I do need to replace an inhibitor switch (as I don't have overdrive in third atm) which on top of the gearbox. I have no chance.

So is there a more reasonably priced drift and drive school? Just did a bit of 5 series on dusty and that had me think I really like it.

My list grows daily. So far I need to replace the lifters and test to see if that cures my power loss. Change the water pump, consider replacing the rear main seal, move and remount the fuel pump and see if that fixes the cavitation issue, re-wire and mount the pump controller and find an annoying current drain. Also want to fit a fan clutch when I do the water pump so it's not running all the time.
After all that, I really want to fit a spool and change out the 3.23s for 3.73 or 3.91s. Or I might just flog it....

Revival this Sat. Anyone else?
-
• #29731
Me also. Will be there all three days.
We were going to take to the Series 1 in convoy with the Defender on Saturday but the weather looks a bit pish for a 50 mile ride with optional windscreen wipers.
Going to go in early tomorrow morning and get a good snoop around the paddocks if I can.

Sweet, unfortunately I couldn't get away with leaving mother and child on their own for an entire boozy weekend. One day!

BMW seem to be out in force in Italy at the moment. They had three disguised cars running up and down Stelvio, including a jacked-up Mini Countryman, and today we followed two through the Dolomites. The one in front was more heavily disguised and loomed more interesting - 3 series size? - but @Cycliste could only get a shot of the one immediately in front of us. 5 series? Wasn't that heavily disguised.

Square exhaust pipes. What is it with square exhaust pipes?
-
• #29735
My 850R came with a square exhaust pipe in 1996, so they're old hat.

Look at the size of these HOLES - 1.1 litre per pot.
Getting the head bolts out was an unbelievable cockend of a job. Had to jack the car up and then play header pipe tetris with a long extended 3/8 driver on a wobble. Then grab the bolts with my magnet on a stick. I continue my 100% record of dumping coolant down the cylinder bores when removing cylinder heads, despite making every effort to completely drain the system. Ah well, needed an oil change anyway I guess.

Is to integrate the exhaust with the body. Underneath it same old circular section.

Yeah - square shaped tube causes all sorts of undesirable turbulence in fluids. I think the square exits look kind of wank too.

Any one want to buy a Ford anglia? The car is a real barn find, it has been cleaned up and generally attacked with a wire brush and looks good. Seems to have never been welded before on the floor pan, nor chasis legs.
It is just a rolling shell and was going to built into either a race car or a fast road car but that is going to be a while and I have many other projects.
Can send email pics before it goes on ebay looking for offers in excess of £1,500.

Also anyone interested in an xjr100? Limited edition of 500 xjr supercharged v8 In 2001, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Sir William Lyons' birth, Jaguar produced five hundred examples of a special-edition model named the "XJR 100". Only available in the Anthracite exterior color with charcoal leather upholstery, the interior is trimmed with contrasting red stitching and birdseye maple. It is fitted with a leather-covered sports steering wheel and MOMO shift knob. The XJR 100 uses the Brembo brakes otherwise found on the R1-equipped XJR, plus 19" "Montreal"-style wheels manufactured by BBS
It also have every conceivable extra thrown at it, such as rain sensing wipers etc. It is a bit tatty body wise as it has a rusty arch and could do with a proper clean. As usual email for photos offers in excess of 5k..note that shiney ones are going for 10k and now going up in value.

That's a 7 series...

• #29742
Is it? Shows how out of touch I am with modern Beemers. Maybe the one in front was a 5 series in that case.

Very interested in your XJR100. Sold my normal xjr a few months ago, and I miss it.

A 1999 C4 would have dbw throttle I believe, so would it have Stability management? Or was that an option?
I love this forum...
