I'm not sure Froome will even take that much over 37km. 'Kintana has upped his test game no end in the last couple of years.
-
• #278
He's a decent short distance TT rider, but the longer the distance the more time he'll concede to Froome.
But the race is lost, when Contador and Quintana mugged Froome on Sunday everyone knew that.
-
• #279
Which is presumably why Froome called for all riders who finished after the deadline to be eliminated. Losing his whole team would have been a wonderful excuse.
-
• #280
Hope Chaves can hold onto his 3rd place.
-
• #281
Does he need an excuse? He won the Dauphine and the Tour so has had a successful season. Winning the Vuelta would've made it a great season but the main reason he rides it is to put him in good shape for the winter.
-
• #282
Don't think he will, Contador's a superior time triallist and seems to have rising form.
-
• #283
Unlikely, Contador is a great tester (bum-shuffling on the saddle aside) and Chaves' best TT/Prologue performance was 6th in the Giro, and that was the uphill TT. I don't think he'll be able to keep his 5seconds on Contador or take any time on Froome.

i predict Froome to only take 1 minute from Quintana
-
• #285
Agreed, contador will take 3rd. But I just HOPE Chaves can hold it.
-
• #286
While I agree, I think that a facet of Froome's otherwise very gentle demeanour is one of the most hard edged competitive streaks that underlies it. He may not need an excuse to you or me but possibily to himself.
Otherwise, i really cannot understand the positiion he took.

Froome needs to take back 5.86 seconds per km over Quintana to erase his current advantage. Quintana lost 3:08 to Froome in the 37.5km TT at the Tour, but both are different riders in this race! Think he can take 1-2 mins back, but any more and its a defo game on tomorrow!

• #288
Had they kicked out the 90 then the tt would of been over in two hours and tennis back on by 2pm
-
• #289
He knew whatever he said wouldn't affect what happened, and it let his teammates know very publically how pissed off he was that they'd had a nice cake ride while he was watching the Vuelta go up the swanee.
-
• #290
28s on lead, 47s Quintana lead at first split. Too easy #armchairDS-ery to say Froome must have come out too spritely?! Either way it's game on...
-
• #291
Froome doesn't go out too hard.
-
• #292
Chaves losing a few places.
-
• #293
1:32 at 24.3km
-
• #294
All the talk of negative splits for Quintana ignores the simple fact that that is how Froome generally rides.
-
• #295
2:17. Tomorrow will be worth tuning in for...
-
• #296
Wow Froome smashed it, put him right back in the game. Its good: makes for a spicy finish although Movistar still look collectively strong enough to make sure Quintana wins
-
• #297
Foome is a fighter through and through.
-
• #298
Sorry, I thought it was expected that he would get two minutes back and that it wouldn't be enough?
-
• #299
Anyway, he's not getting 1:21 back.
But should be good to watch the fight for top10 GC. -

Chris Froome should be arrested for looking daft on a bike. On the finish on Weds when he was spinning to latch on to Quintana/Contador/Chaves it was as if he'd put the wrong chainset on.
Winds me up man.
Prediction . Froome to only make 2 minutes today on quintana conceding defeat. Moment the race was won contador attacking from the start with movistar on the short stage.
