I've just recently got a bike with disc brakes and it's the first time I've used them. The stock rotors are really shard, there's a proper edge on them, even on the cutouts. I pretty swiftly managed to cut myself on it while adjusting them. I wouldn't want to be in a bike pile on top of warm/spinning rotors. So I think the rounded edges are a very good idea.
