What are the symptoms of a frame that requires its bottom bracket shell faced? Slight grinding sensation (no sound) through the pedals/frame at a particular point of every pedal stroke?

Edit: with ultegra ht2 BB and cranks.

Needing to change the BB fairly often is a good one.

Is it worth claiming a transit windscreen replacement that costs 150 on my insurance with a 75 excess for glass. How much does it really affect your premium?

Did 2k miles on the old kinesis, never bothered getting that faced but never had this issue. Transferred everything over to the warranty replacement frame (no facing again) and had this slight grind sensation ever since. Can't see what else it could be, but fit doval chainrings at the same time so dunno if that could have something to do with it...

Might it be the chainstay and the seatstay grinding as they move independently of one another at the dropout?

How can I book a bike on a train online?

Depend on the provider, most of the time you have to phone up, or go to the station to book it first.

Eastcoast has a bit on their website when booking the train, I booked a bike onto a cross country train via Facebook the other week, apparently you can also tweet them.

Anyone know the rules for driving in a Cycle Super Highway? I was cycling home along the Chelsea Embankment after 11pm last night when I could hear what sounded like a taxi really close to me. Turned round and he was tailgating me. He waited for the car on my right to over take then overtook me and moved back into the CSH and carried on driving.

It was 11pm free flowing traffic yet he was driving up the inside of the others. Is using the CSH in this way legal?

Don't think so, either he's clueless or taking advantage of the new cycle lane.

Southeastern and Southern you don't have to I found out this week, but full size bikes can only be carried on the train during off peak hours IIRC.

If it's got a solid white line on the outside then cars shouldn't be driving along in it.

If it's dashed outer line then it's ok to cross it at that point (think turning into side roads). Although some times you need to cross it where there is no dashed line (such as the coach parking bays opposite Millbank Tower).

If there's no line then they can drive in it, this is usually where the cycle superhighway shares the left hand lane with cars coming up to a left turn (the lane is normally left turn only for cars). The approach to the junction of Claverton St on Grosvenor Road is an example of this.

There's your answer. After 20 years of riding and driving in London, I've concluded that laws must not apply to taxis, otherwise somebody would surely have done something about the problem by now.

This is not exclusive to London, I believe it may be international law.

That's often the only explanation needed.
