Does anyone know the name of the UK Birdy folder importer/Distributer? For four months and counting, I have been pleading (via LBS) to buy a replacement Birdy fork. Maybe I should post a picture of my existing deathtrap fork. Just so you Brommie folk can feel even better about your choice. Thanks.

Get those torque setting right man. Expensive if not. My repair is upto £300 now (including the £66 Armourtex tax)

Defintely not, that's a knock off.

All jokes aside, it is a bit sticky but this seems to be to do with the plastic collar inside the seattube. I've taken it out and cleaned a lot of the grime off but it's not perfect. Do I need a new one?
-
• #2136
Nah, just a light reaming will make it smoother, you shouldn't be able to take out the plastic collar as it glued to the frame using a solvent that I can only obtain from Brompton.
TBF a lots of Brompton come with a slightly sticky seattube for some reason (we were taught to ream it slightly if it come like that).
Just to be clear, the photo I've posted earlier is not for the Brompton.

I hope you're right but I am not so sure.

Oh right, well it came out with minimal effort (this frame could be 20 years old though). There's a lip holding it in place now but I'm wondering if I should just book the whole thing in for a service and get the rear triangle bushes done at the same time. £175 at evans though!

I'd shop around, you can service one thing at a time, the bushing and seat collar usually required regular service.
Evans is expensive, to give you an idea of the rear hinge service, I quote £45 for 45 minutes labour, the approx time it take to removed the rear triangle, axles, bushing, fit new bushing, axles, and bolt, every once in a while it take an hour.

Keep looking at it, the more you look at it, the more you're convinced it's defintely a knock-off.
Brompton planning to released it in selected European cities in the summer of 2017 (London and Barcelona is what I glanced) in small volume, also there's a lots of aftermarket electric adaption that look infinity better than that far-east knock-off in the last pages, this one is closer to what they have planned (front wheel motor and battery, easy to plug-in once you arrived home/work), Brompton's biggest hurdle at the moment is the brakes, as people with electric bike wear them out very quickly.

For the front block? What could I possibly have got wrong? Seemed like a very straightforward installation...
Sorry if I missed something... You good? 😘

Easy to fuck up if you don't follow the instruction.

I watched the video and did exactly what the Brompton mechanic did, seemed easy peasy...

Thanks for getting in touch @Lolo and @cornelius_blackfoot about the sale on the previous page.
I think i'm looking for something a little newer though. I will probably ask a load of questions which have been answered up-thread so apologies in advance.
The first of these is: Is there a new design in the pipeline? Is now a bad time to be buying new? I've always dug the basic design but been put off by the weight. The cost of the Ti model isn't justifiable so if there was a new lighter model coming out I might well snap up the above s/h bargain and wait for the new model. If not I'll just buy new now.
I'm leaning towards the s/s model as i'm used to riding fixed/ss and the simplicity, reliability and weight saving appeals. Can anyone give some guidance as to what the standard Brompton ratios equate to in GI?
Cheers!

Did not know that Brompton did a single speed version as standard, after looking at their website, seems they do. I went two speed, not sure it adds that much more weight but willing to be corrected on that, big gear feels big when pushing off from lights but when moving through traffic then feels a bit spinny. But since it's a town bike not that fussed, it is nice having a smaller gear to get off from lights and go uphill...
You doing cycle to work, or forking out for it yourself? -

Cash cash cash. Thought I was going to wait till i was into the new house but mulled over the improvement to my current situation occasioned by having foldywheels and decided I need to buy one right fucking now.

Anyone looking at getting a(nother) Brompton? I'm tentatively looking at selling my M3L. I'm looking for £500 to recoup the price of my new CX bike. (n+0 rule)
I also have an orange Ortlieb O-bag (used maybe 5x) I'd sell for £100.

uh, yep. Pics?

The bike is in London in storage at my mates. I'm up in Aberdeen but will be in London the weekened of the 16-18 so was hoping to do any sale then, so don't have any current photos. Let me dig through my phone though.
Bike is black, great condition. Upgraded with new alu brake levers, new cables and easyroller wheels. Firm suspension block. One Brompton and One Schwalbe tyres.
Also have a brompton in frame tool kit I can include for £30 or free if someone is interested in the bike and the bag together.

My older one on the previous page is still up for grab. Make me an offer.
Have a word with @apone he's on the lookout and cheap to buy and then service might drop yours into the right price bracket..
