Thanks for the tip, they look good.
I run mine at 80 - 90 PSI depending on how wet it is. I'm 78KG and they're 28c.
Furthermore, in my experience, when running both tyres at the same pressure (80) and the same size (28), the GK had far more grip over METAL surfaces or anything that was uneven etc. The One's have a slightly superior grip allround, either in wet or dry but they slide out hard when it comes to anything that isn't tarmac and smooth. Hence why I'm looking for an alternative for winter.

For an all rounder I would recommend marathon supreme purely for the amazing durability from punctures and decent rolling resistant.
I have 35mm on my all-city and for comfort and protection they are amazing for my 26 miles daily commute they reliable as fuck!

I'm looking at Schwalbe Durano, they look to be a good 32c option.

No tyres can grip well on metal surface especially on the wet.
90/80psi is very high for a 28mm tyres.

RibMo!

Gravelkings?

• #3659
Was looking at these too, cheers. Seem like they'd be a good option.
Tbh looks like gravelking might be good too, I thought they'd be more focused on off-road than they are. -

Shame the 32c version doesn't retain the file tread of the 28c.

Gravel kings are really nice, there are 2 32c versions, standard file tread and the chunkier ones. I reckon gravel kings are actually just pretty nice road tyres, find them supple and quick. Not had a puncture yet on gravel Kings, ribmo are stiffer and seem like they will last longer and be more puncture proof though, not as nice to ride.
Around 2500 miles between GKs and Ribmos and the only punctures I've had was from a dodgy rim tape and a massive thorn that got through the side wall on a ribmo.

Okay cool, looks like it's gravel king (file tread) and gravel king sk. Very useful, thanks! I think I'm on to a winner here.

I took a set of 26c GK on a long gravel ride (very chunky/chucky gravel) and no punctures.
I rate them big time!

Only place I found selling the file 32s was Winstanley's.
I too love my gravel kings. Have them on my tourer and they're lovely at low pressure.

I found these two too:

If you use cyclestore, put in the comments section which valve length you need for your rims. Luckily for me I live in the same town as their warehouse so was able to nip back and swap for tubes with longer valves. Gks are awesome tyres, once I've worn my paselas out I'll be fitting 32mm gks.

Oh, that's good news. Was hoping more places would start stocking the file 32s.

Any LBS with a Zyro account should be able to get the file Gravel Kings too. Not like you're saving any money on RRP from CRC...
-
• #3669
Do you know any locally?

Keep Pedalling have ordered Panaracer stuff for me before, I think Ken Fosters are also listed on the Zyro dealer pages.

700x40 road (slick) lightweight tyre .. does such thing exist? I am afraid the 35mm Kojaks I have might look a bit skinny on the new build ..
-
• #3672
How light?
Maxxis Refuse come in 40c now - 510g claimed
Marathon Supreme V guard are sold as 42 but labelled 40 - 490g claimed
Vittoria Voyager Hyper - claimed 40, labelled 38 - 44og claimed
Compass whatever pass - 38c but will probably stretch a little - extralite 359g -
• #3673
Compass is comparable at megabucks but just 3mm more .. Kojak is 330g 35c
-
• #3674
Have you measured Kojak? Are they true to size? The last set I had (5 years ago...) came out around 30mm despite 25mm rims.
-
• #3675
37c Voyager Hypers come up a lot bigger than Kojaks - I can measure when I get home if that helps. They look more like 40c.
I would say Hypers are a good fast rolling tyre for the money, light for the size and 120tpi carcass gives a pleasant ride.
So heavy but resistant to being smashed up curbs and ploughed through glass? Perfect...
