What is wrong with it, if you don't mind me asking?
The app? It doesn't work to begin with .. when it does the experience has so many gaps, next to impossible to use for anyone thats not a geek.

Any suggestions for replacement pads for Zipps? Tangente, cork or something else perhaps?

Took my Colnago out of storage after not riding it for quite a while - it was hung up on a hook by the front wheel in my cellar for about two years.
On dusting it and checking it over, I notice the front wheel is very out of true.
It was fine when I hung it up. How could this have happened? Can wheels go out of true over time without the bike being ridden?

Yes if they're hanging from a hook for a long time. Everyday usage and hanging up will be unlikely to always hang the bike from the same place. The full weight of a bike hanging from one concentrated point for a long time on a rim clearly does.

Yup. I have the old one without HR. It's been pretty cool. But I wouldn't want the new one. Attraction of mine was it looks like an analogue watch, totally. But the software works well and battery lasts a good six months. Tracks sleep and steps. Only take it off when on the road bike. Sleep in it, shower in it.

I have the Withings scales too, so the app is probably more useful for me. Does sleep, steps, weight and fat mass. I like it. Very simple and reliable. Syncs over to Apple seamlessly.

I'm changing from an 11-26 cassette to an 11-32. I'm going to need a longer chain aren't I?
-
• #78610
Maybe, depends on how long the other one is, probably worth changing anyway unless it's quite new.
-
• #78611
It is, and I'm a cheapskate. Goddamn.

I'm considering purchasing a Microsoft Band 2. They come in three sizes. I haven't had a watch for over two decades so wouldn't really know where exactly it sits on the wrist and therefore where to measure. Would it be over, below or above that round protruding bone thing.

Great stuff :)

All this chat about wearable tech... Do any of them track heartrate where it could give you the data beat by beat? I'm wondering if it would be useful to keep an eye on regularity or otherwise. So not just beats per minute. (Context: hereditary heart wonkiness, I've already had surgery once but it commonly comes back after a while, would be useful for me to be able to take data every so often and look over a 24h graph. Assume I know nothing about gadgets.)

• #78615
Below. Put it above and you'll limit your wrist movement.

I think they all use algorithms to smooth the data. I don't think any at the moment are accurate enough to give that data (unless you want to spend a lot of time panicking).
-
• #78617
Yeah I thought that was probably the case. Most people just want BPM and have no use for actual rhythm data.
-
• #78618
Most watches sample heart rate at regular intervals rather than being on constantly, as the latter drains the battery faster than is acceptable to most users. They are indicative too, meaning that they are not accurate to the level that would be considered a health device, which is much more tightly regulated.

I got some enve CX forks new for £150 but the downside is that they're 1 1/8" - 1.5". The headset on my caadx is semi integrated which I assume means the headtube is 44mm. Thr headtube is non-tapered 1 1/8". Does this mean I just need to put a 1.5" cup in the bottom and keep the top as it is?
I held a tape measure over the headtube and I reckon it probs is 44mm. Didn't have time to get the callipers out. Hoping I didn't jump on a bargain that is useless to me.

Removed (with difficulty) my 2000 mile old ultegra cassette from dt swiss freehub to find it looking like this:
Is this terminal? Can I stick a new (105) cassette on and get away with it for a while? Is there a replacement freehub available that isn't made of cheese?
-
• #78621
I think most shimano freehubs are steel and thus harder wearing, but also heavier.
-
• #78622
Yeah, not overly bothered about weight but presumably a Shimano freehub wouldn't fit a 3-pawl dt swiss hub?
I had a bit of a read online and filed the burrs off the 'bites' and stuck the new cassette on. Hopefully it'll be alright...

mine looked the same when i last changed my cassette. Provided the lockring is nice and tight, should be ok. It does seem that the rings which are not on the alloy carrier are in danger of moving round a bit and hence spoil the shifting. Hasn't been a problem so far though.

What is this for? Attached to the mast on fishing boats. Not knowing the name makes it rather difficult to google.
