Can some one recommend a MB for me please. Circa £500, thinking hardtail, rigid forks and single speed- its primarily going to be used on the South Downs as training for TD, so doesn't matter if its a bit heavy. Guess I'm better off looking a second hand, but I don't have a clue when it comes to non road bikes.

This would be fun. Certainly won't be light.

Vitus Dee 29 city bike, plus change of tyres?
-
• #8991
The 27.5 plus tyres make the circumference 29er equivalent, if that makes any difference.

Got one myself and it's awesome, but it's fully rigid.

Same here. I also want open access to footpaths, or no differentiation for rights of way, as it is in Scotland and a lot of other places.
Also, no electric bikes on rights of way.

This is a tricky one. Some times I think it is important that walkers can use a path that they know wont have riders flying down. Around lots of the North Downs there are plenty of bike friendly trails but so many riders, it's important that people can get away from us. However some paths would be ideal "up only" routes, i.e., don't come flying down at breakneck speed but feel free to chug up it. Very difficult to put in place though so my feelings on the whole subject are very mixed.
Also, no electric bikes on rights of way.
Why?

Yeah, me too.
Why?
Battery and motor tech is moving on so fast you might as well allow scooters / motorcross bikes. You could try to impose some kind of speed restriction but then...enforcement.

Totally agree.
All the trails near me are kind multi use. But those closer to built up areas will have Walkers. People should definitely be allowed to og for a walk in relative Peace and safety. I either ride With care. Or travel away from the popular hiking spots.
This is where off-road strava segments can be fucking stupid.
So basically...Nicolai goes back to making Nicolai shocker....
