I'm surprised you were not able to migrate from 27x1/4 to 700c keeping the original canti bosses, always assumed you'd have enough play in pad adjustment...

Readers wives.... Mid 80's 531st Dawes Galaxy, originally 27 1/4 wheels had braze-ons for 700c added by Neil Orrell, shimano Dynamo hub , Minoura Gamoh, original group set with drillium cranks....
