Mark Heap sniffing Tracy-Ann Oberman on Friday Night Dinner.
TV perfection in our modern age.

I've been enjoying it, with a few reservations. What I don't get is that surely the murderer (or his clothes) would have been covered in blood? But the suspect wasn't and it's never mentioned.

Halfway through Stranger Things. It's amazing, it manages to reference all those 80s films already mentioned (and I'd add Wargames and various others to the list, although ET and The Goonies definitely shine through strongest), but also manages to evoke something of early 90s shows like The X Files and Twin Peaks. I love it.

Police believing what they want to believe is my take on things...

Yeh, it's a pretty standard crime drama dressed up with some moody visuals, possible red herrings, occasional did-he-actually-do-it? moments, central casting prison population, a great Al Pacino tribute from John Turturro, etc etc. I like it, I still can't understand why none of his lawyers has said, er, what about the blood?

Flowers - not sure how I missed a new sitcom with Olivia Coleman and Julian Barrett, seems they showed it over one week, probably because they thought no-one would like it. Proper full of that en vogue dark stuff (opens with a suicide attempt and then starts twisting), top notch performances from the whole cast, a lot of comedy hidden in there. Not the sort of thing that's ever going to get another series, but will look out for anything else by the writer (Will Sharpe).

Tried watching that. Couldn't get into it. Not bad, but nothing to make me want to watch another episode.

Loved Flowers. Really into Billions at the mo.

Oliver Coleman makes a pretty good evil stepmum in fleabag, which is pretty good, but with maybe a little too much fourth wall breaking.

There was a one-off called The Circuit on C4 last night which was excellent. Very dark, laugh out loud funny at times, and a couple of very good deployments of the word cunt.

watched another couple of "The Get Down" episodes over the weekend. Slightly revised opinion - it's not completely shit.
I sort of enjoyed watching it, but can't work out why. I think maybe the party scene in the first episode got me, and I'm just hanging on for another. -

there's a 3rd season of broad city i knew nothing about until yesterday. one and and three and four!

to be fair that party scene was the bit that got me hooked. which is why i said it got better at the end of the first episode before.
having finished it i think it kind of petered out as it went but was enjoyable enough. the love interest/pastors daughter subplot kind of overwhelmed the rest of it all though and imo took up way too much of the ending.

my girlfriend has been telling me off for saying this so soon into the series but does anyone else think this year's bake off cast is the most forgettable, boring group so far?
literally the only one that stands out personality wise so far is the insufferably smug ginger twat with the punchable face who I hope gets booted off at the first available opportunity.
also the 'coming up next week' and 'on this weeks bake off' preview clips seem to now show every single clip of potentially interesting action to happen that week much like forcing you to sit through the extended version of the film trailer for the film you're about to watch at the cinema and have desperately tried to avoid reading any kind of spoilers for. for the love of jeebus why!

Where was Sue?
Suits. Series 6.
God damn. Every other word.
3 episodes in, and I'm tempted to read the Cliff notes and save myself the rest.
