There's even load of Peugeot town bike with 650b, they were merely called 26" in England despite the tyres clearly stated 584.

being an MTB that it's not exactly a bike you can ride off road easily
is the issue here I think

Isn't 650b commonplace in France like 27" in England?
Yes, very common.

Only changes from off the peg were my own pedals (which got changed to clipless after this pic cause I forgot that I don't know how to ride flat pedals), and a cambium saddle.
Super impressed with the bike, I'm not an experienced mtb-er by any stretch of the imagination but it handled great on my jaunt to epping, did a few mediocre jumps over tiny kickers and the tyres offered a good bit of shock absorption. The build kit at the price is amazing. Haven't ridden it enough to give an in depth analysis but riding it was very fun and made me smile a lot. -

you're not helping me not buy this bike

wrong size! but ohhhh mannnnnnnnnnn
-
• #485
Ah shame, Charlie's only shows as 15" in stock so I presumed that's what you were going for.
-
• #486
17" would fit me better (I think?), if they're out of stock my bank manager will be very relieved.

Tell me about it...spent this afternoon is shops trying to understand MTB sizing. Didn't succeed.

What OTP 605b disc wheelset should I look at in order to run 38's and QR's?
-
• #489
With discs? I want exactly the same thing!

Cancel that idea, new plan.

Keep dropping the pressures, you'll notice a massive amount of grip.

New tyres, Michelin Wild Run'R for MTB, very cheap, 35mm;

What's a good road frame/OTP to base a 650b build on? Any material but ideally under £1000 (for frame)
Planning a new bike for commuting and fun riding. Sydney has some sharp climbs and in my current commute there's quite a few - so weight is a consideration too. There's also a mix of surfaces from rough concrete, smooth motorway asphalt and a bit of unpaved but hard packed dirt.
So, build a 650b bike or just get an OTP 700c cross bike or similar? Can't imagine needing anymore than 32 or 35mm tyres.

Along the same lines what are the current wheel recommendations for a wheel set for 650b, disc brakes and wide ish tyres 32 -45mm.

Fancy axles/tubeless ready/budget ?

I'm hopefully going to be 650b-ing my CAAD 10 disc tomorrow morning, would think the 12 would be a good option assuming you can make the seatpost work for you
-
• #498
QR, tubeless ready, <£400.
Thankyouplease.

Have you checked the chainstay clearance? Fairly certain someone said CAAD12s have less clearance with 650b than 700c because of the way the chainstays are formed. Not sure if C10s are the same boat
-
• #500
Yeah, I think Ed said that.
41mm clearance with 650b wheels. Tbh the main issue with 700 is the tight fit to the seat tube and the vestigial brake bridge, so should be all good ...Edit: picture take 2
