Trying to fix myself up a single speed MTB, is this rear wheel worth bothering with or am I best off trying to find a regular MTB wheel to convert: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182260859491?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
No mention of hub/rim/spoke make.

From the description it sounds like it's a 120mm hub. I'd just get a SS kit for a normal freehub personally

Damn, that's a long bike!

Schralping the gnar, I believe it's called...

In the sea?

26" wheels so yea, obviously tres chuckables
-
• #8961
I don't know... It's probably outside at Eurobike because it won't fit through the hall doors.
-

I think they're 29" wheels, it's just a fucking huge bike. Would also be good as a clothes horse, extra tubing to hang pants on.

*squints*
Dual crown 29er 40mm forks. bonkers.
-
• #8965
While you're squinting, might as well just shut your eyes, then hit cmd+W. Never have to see again.

So retro it's future.

A Nicolai Geometron that a privateer is using on the downhill world cup series with 180mm dual crown fork has a 59 degree head angle.
These bikes suit really tall riders, hence Chris Porter's experiments with them.
Calling @BareNecessities ....

Yep, I noticed that Mojo now do the Geometron in an 'extra longest' size :-)
535mm reach!

That bike looks like it was made to downhill in the Limousin...
gets coat

Shit hot. That photo was taken in front of the viewing point on top of Pitch Hill, in front of "the steeps," the only appropriate place to try such a bike in the Surrey Hills.

AKA "the bit where Sparky came a cropper and had his bike overtake him when he went upside down a bit"
-
• #8973
Guaranteed that this has happened to everyone that has ridden there, including me.
-
• #8974
Haven't been to Pitch Hill for over 10 years. I do recall looking at some bits going off there and thinking "NOPE".

Funny thing is.......... not many years ago....... (maybe 10ish) slack angled frames where the domain of world cup DH racers only running custom geo. The big brands decided that the geo was pretty much unrideable by mere mortals and only pro WC riders could handle them.
So we have seen the North Shore steep angled frames (like the headtube has had a heavy frontal impact)
And now we have super slack angles that look like the frame has survived a heavy large drop/landing and fucked the headtube the other way and splayed it out.I like my frames in the 66-69 o range but i am old and retrovintage :)
Current shimano are pretty good too, mine are doing really well after 6000+ miles and no care.
