Ohhhhhhhh nice fixie.

Buy a better bike than that off here second-hand. Keep your eye on the classifieds section. The prices are very fair. You'll only need to spend about £200 to get a much better bike than that.

1) Prepare yourself for snarky answers.
2) No one cool says fixie.
3) £270 will buy you a bottom of the range bike. Note the lack of any brand names in the description. Probably a false economy at that price.
4) But if you like the look of it and are prepared to replace bits sooner rather than later then go for it.

Here's a cracking bike for £200:

Ask if they can do it in baby blue....
What a lot of the others said, look in the classifieds and buy yourself a bike and some tools. 15mm spanner, set of allan keys, pedal spanner, chain breaker and one or two other bits means you'll be able to tinker and custom to your hearts content. You'll also learn a lot more. Be aware of phrases like "italian threaded", "italian threaded" and JIS.
Also at this time of year buy a decent lock and a some decent lights.

The others have been rather gentle. Don't buy that bike. It will be an absolute piece of shit, made from dairylea, weigh a tonne and I guarantee you, you'll be buying parts to replace broken ones within the month.
Buy second hand on here and buy quality steel or a well known brand of aluminium. -

Hi guys really appreciate all your feedback :)
I would like to add these two bikes in the mix - are these any worthy candiates?

Thanks Again

Seriously, just buy second hand, you'll appreciate it later.

Seriously all those bikes are really awful, shitty pieces of shit.
Don't get a cheap bike with deep section wheels, they'll just weigh a ton.
Decent new fixed gear bikes start at £400. Anything cheaper than £300 is going to be a fucking abomination. If you want cheap, take the recommendations of second hand.
Few useful points:
- Calling a bike a 'fixie' is not cool any more.
- Bright coloured deep section rims is not cool any more.

Fuji Feather will set you back 399£ but it's solid and you get allot of bike for the money

Interesting article on the subject

Wow, super bargain. I paid £350 for mine less than 6 months ago, and still think it's a good bike at full price.
Change the freewheel though...

It's a great bike for the money. The lack of eyelets though I find unforgivable. How much more would that have set them back in the frame spec budget?
-
• #20
it was a mistake - the spec said full mudguard / rack fixings and then when i got it there were none at the back. Charge admitted it was a QC error.

The only caveat I would add is that this is no longer a fixed gear forum. Its actually a road bike forum populated by people that used to (or claim that they used to) ride fixed gear bikes. So the advice above may be a little out-dated. You might want to seek out a proper fixed gear bike forum.

Lol

This was never a fixed only forum. From the beginning, there were road bike riding users here, fixed gear and single speed riding users.

was supposed to be funny. chill winston.

That Hackney thing is hideous. If the Langster fits buy that, otherwise find something else second hand. If it has to be new buy a Charge Plug.
Hi guys, so I am very new to riding fixie and I am looking to purchase one with the option of future customisations. Im a university student and my entire campus is flat so im sure a fixie is perfect for me.
The question i have...is which one!? I have a budget of about £300 MAX and the best bike i have found is this - http://hackney-cycles.co.uk/2016-BLACK/
Visually it looks amazing, but i have no idea really regarding the specs...so if anybody has the time i would really appreciate the assistance!
happy riding...
