Pisses me right off that all banks are now friendly, family-like institutions who not only have our best interests at heart, but have been part of the family for generations.

Cue shit, twee music, nostalgic or 'cute' imagery and a meaningless slogan.

Current worst offender is Lloyds TSB with that song that sounds like a Snow Patrol or Coldplay song that, against all odds, has actually been made worse. Turns out it's by someone calling herself 'Birdy' (ugh) to try and hide the fact she has about three surnames and twelve middle names, all of which are Tabitha.

Re: Guinness surfer ad. That was really well made, but I always preferred the one with the guy swimming in (what looked like) the Med, trying to beat the time it took to pour a pint.

I caught the hotels.com advert recently. Grudgingly I have to admit I loved their swerve on the Skip This Ad button. Sneaky, underhanded brilliant genius.

Directed by Jonothan Glazer, he of Sexy Beast and Under The Skin fame.
