That's all good then, I've smelt all kinds on the bus and tube first thing in the morning, so if you can get away with not wearing it, then god speed brother... and I didn't believe the whole not wiping your arse thing ;)

I've often been tempted by not using shampoo but my scalp gets super itchy if I don't wash it at all. I seem to have super sensitive skin & sometimes water can make it really bad. I've started using paraben, SLS, & chemical free shampoo & body washes which have significantly improved my hair & skin. I also don't shower everyday to allow my natural oils to stop my skin getting dry. Tkmaxx is surprisingly good for giant bottles of natural soaps, shampoos & body washes. Might be a happy middle ground to the harsh drying chemicals & nothing at all alternatives.

Victoria Park? I ran* past a pub called this today going through to the velodrome and it struck a chord.
*showered after, still no shampoo tho, no complaints so far. Carriage to myself on an otherwise busy train home though.

No shampoo for 8-9 years, medium length hair, Missus still shares a bed with me so either it's not disgusting or putting up with it is worth it. I also used to surf a lot—never any issues—if anything skin condition, body odour and hair quality is better .. sea water is rich in minerals and salt is antibacterial ..
Also, currently 5 months shower gel free—I do use this stuff after I shower though.
Three words of advice:
Eat well, chump.

2 months so far for me and I haven't noticed any difference (short hair). I shower twice a day and make sure I give the hair a good hot rinse.

There's a Guardian article today as well. I'm not linking to it because it's shite.

So bad. Not sure why it was approached from that angle, all it did was get people under their defensive umbrellas, but on the other hand, this shit seems to be getting popular.
So started seeing someone a while ago, who immediately flipped her shit and got rid of my ass when she found out I don't shampoo my hair.
Don't care, hair still looking fabulous...in some patches... -

I saw this thread about 3 months ago and mentioned it to the wife. She had been reading something about it too so we both started it and haven't used shampoo since.
I have very thick, pretty curly/frizzy shoulder length hair which I now just rinse under the same temp of water that I'm showering under.
When using shampoo my head would itch like crazy and look greasy as hell if I didn't wash it every other day, now I can leave it the best part of a week between rinsing it. I don't notice it smelling ever and my mother who has a very sensitive nose said it smelled fine last time I was round there, I think it was 3 or 4 days since rinsing it then.
I was also getting a bit of a rash where the adjustable band of my helmet sits when I was washing it, totally gone now.

Invested (£1.49) in what is supposedly a Boar Bristle brush, soft. Apparently it helps remove some hair oil plus massage scalp.
Anyone else using one?

" shampoo causes as much air pollution as cars "
is the headlineIn urban areas, emissions from consumer goods such as paint, cleaning supplies and personal care products now contribute as much to ozone and fine particulate matter in the atmosphere as do emissions from burning gasoline or diesel fuel.
are the facts

I'm trying this again... 10 days in my hair is pretty greasy. it doesn't smell or itch but it's kind of... sticky. I'm washing in warm water every other day, and brushing every day. and washing the brush each time. it doesn't look too bad tied back, at least I don't think anyone else will notice. hope it improves soon.

It will. I did this years ago when I had long shaggy hair. The first 30 days or so were tough, my scalp produced loads of oil and running my nails over it would fill nails with grease but after 30 days or so it magically found its own balance and settled down. I used to swim every day so had to rinse it out but didn’t use soap for about a year. Then I went off-road and got splashed in cow shit and my hair got matted so stupidly I washed it with shampoo. It instantly turned into a massive ‘fro. Couldn’t be arsed to go through it al again.

It will! I'm 10 years in and shampoo'd maybe 2 or 3 times. Out of curiosity. It's not good when I shampoo.
Now, daily, I stand under the shower. Rinse through. Dry natch ie no hairdryer, and brush. I use gel sometimes which rinses out in the shower. You wouldn't shampoo your border collie every day would you? Seriously. 😀 -

if your style allows cut your hair as short as possible when you start, quicker and easier to wash, not as much hair to tangle, and you will grow into it as your hair grows, also try and avoid water that is too hot, it can leave you with dry skin and hair can feel a bit tacky after a hot rinse, i find a rinse with as cold water as possible really acts like a conditioner and makes the hair feel much smoother, tricky i know at this time of the year .... brrrrrrrr
you're never going to get hair like on them tv ads tho'

These days shampoo seems to make my scalp skin dry and flakey - which is a problem I had never suffered before. I just use Carex handwash now with no issues.
Doesn't all water get chlorine treatment to a degree anyway?
