So what is changing on the 2017 Brompton? Had a quick look at the interweb and all I can see is there's an electric one coming some time in the near future.

@nodachi1 - The piece that leaked the photos has gone. As have all the previous blog entries.
They are one of the Brompton dealers in Malaysia. They took photos at one of the big bike shows in Asia. The article was posted July 28th. They must have been asked nicely to nobble the piece for now. The info will come out slowly - the electric brommie has now been confirmed. Brompton don't want to stop people on the verge of buying now to wait until the 2017 models ship.

Ah is that what it is. Did anyone grab a picture in time? I'd live to see it

Does the Brompton bottom bracket use an special standard, or its compatible with normal ones like BSA 68?
-
• #2108
It is BSA 68 but they used a specific spindle length for their chainset.
-
• #2109
Thanks! So I should be sure to choose a crankse that keep the chainline in the same position.

I used a FSA Gossamer (external BB) achieving perfect chainline, without needing to tweak anything or use spacers... Straight spot on, with outer chainring

After forgetting to check a couple of ebay listings in time and not liking the lack of flange on chinese Brompfication seatpost copies I've taken the plunge and ordered the real thing new...
Have now spent near enough the original purchase price on upgrades and extras! Probably worth it though, it's so fun to ride, even when I accidentally took it down a stairset I hadn't spotted in time. -

Heavier.
-
• #2113
The brompfication post or Chinese copies?
-
• #2114
sorry i thought you were buying an original brompton titanium seatpost.
-
• #2115
Ah right yeah I see what you mean now! I looked at them but they're even more £££ and I'd still have to use the dodgy saddle clip I have currently, or spend more on a the proper pentaclip!

Another thing worth looking at is that if the post is a little sticky going up and down, a light reaming would sufficent in having a butterly smooth movement (any bike shop that does Brompton have that tool, I hope).
-
• #2117
Are you still talking about bike stuff?

gosh

• #2120
Oof!
-
• #2121
Although using a tapered reamer in a seat tube would be a very bad idea...

Verging on the terminally catastrophic.
Just don't. -

Is there anywhere in London that might have a 2 speed rear wheel in stock? The rim has finally given up the ghost, and I'm in central London today.

My folly pedal has sheared in two. And the other is pretty bent too.
Lots of people have changed their Brompton pedals, so I'm hoping that some of you may be able to offer me your unused original set for some money.
Anyone holding?

sounds pretty exciting, i wonder if you can retrofit on to existing bromptons?
