So I need wheels, and I might consider building it 1x10 (or 11) with a dmr chaintug/hanger. So I guess I need a regular hub that'll accept a cassette...

There seems to be plenty of steerer available (!) but I might consider a replacement fork somewhere down the line. I wouldn't mind some nicer steel ones if anyone has something kicking around (e.g. nature boy disc, which I don't think are available aftermarket on their own).

I think a 1*11 650B drop bar machine would be fun to build with this frame.

^ my thoughts exactly.

I spent a while searching for a pompetamine
Also this. Gave up. Nothing on ebay for months. Weird!

Agreed. I wonder what tire clearance I'd get.

A bit too dear for this build, but thanks.

The surly disc trucker (26") fork matches this frame well. It is 376mm axle-to-crown so you get about 1 degree more headtube angle compare to the stock fork. and get nicer steering (the pompetamine can be a bit slow feeling). It only fits max 37mm 700c tyres though.

Given the shape of the chain stays I think you wouldn't win any clearance with 650b.

FIY, I've been able to fit 650x42b grand bois hetre tires on my pompetamine, stretched to 44mm on dt m442 rims - I get ~3mm of clearance on both side on the rear. I'm quite sure that you can not fit 700x42 on that frame :)

Front disc doesn't work as rotor bolts hit the fork leg. Rear disc doesn't work as caliper won't move far back enough.
I'm rapidly going off pompetamines.
I've been racing (very occasionally!) sscx on my pompino but also using it to commute. The drudgery of stripping and rebuilding the bike was starting to get me down.
Funny how these things work out: I spent a while searching for a pompetamine for an sscx build, but didn't really have the space in my flat for another bike. Finally I've found one courtesy of @theshipwright and I've moved so I have more space. However the move means my commute is down to 2 miles and I'm running or walking it at the moment. C'est la vie. In moments of confusion I find it helps to build bikes.
Currently the frame is lurking with @laner so I have some time to plan and dither. So far I have some sram rival cranks and little else. Recommendations welcome!
