Thanks! Took a month of doubting whether or not I should go for these tires, but I'm really happy with them.

I don't know.. maybe it's pushin' it a bit too far

Jaap Personally, I think the purple saddle is taking it a little too far. But this is not the porn, nor the anti thread, so whatever works for you.

Evening all. Coming here for a little advice after lurking with here serious intent for a while.
I am looking at something new to replace my Bob Jackson fully mudguarded fixed commuter.
Something to do some light touring and and some heavy commuting (child seat, panniers with books, laptop, clothing). Something that will allow me to get my daughter to nursery and then get me to work, ideally with my shit no longer in a rucksack but packed neatly into panniers on a low rider rack.I am almost certainly looking for something that I can get off the shelf as have very little time on my hands at the moment.
I've been looking at a Croix de Fer as a serious contender (anyone know what next years model is looking like?).
Alternatively a London Road or Arkrose but not sure about low rider compatability.
Or, an AWOL but potentially a bit heavy handed for what I need?
Or, a Disc Straggler but would prefer to not have bar end shifters?
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Anything I should be thinking about that I am not? -

Agreed, that's why I am replacing it ;)

Trek singletrack
Love it. Could you please post a close up of the front rack and light mount, I just got the same rack for a build and am considering options for the front light.

Arkose and London Road aren't low rider compatible - arkose is a great bike though.
Other suggestions are good, other possibles are the Genesis tour de fer,
Brother Kepler Disc maybe
http://www.brothercycles.com/shop/kepler-disc-complete-stealth/To be honest, most touring bikes sounds like they'd suit, looks like you're after disks though right?
Revolution County - bargainous as usual from EBC
http://www.edinburghbicycle.com/products/revolution-country-2-16?bct=browse%2fbicycles%2ftouring-bikesOr Marin four corners, similar to AWOL

Thanks for these. Will take a proper look.
I'm not attached to discs but it seems that's what's mainly being offered on this type of thing. My gut is that bikes lime the Croix de Fer and Kepler are slightly closer to the geometry I am used to, and actually have just come across the Specialized Sequoia which is too. I am trying to work out whether something a bit more relaxed geometry-wise will feel too upright for me day to day as i still want to be able to go at relatively fast clip when I feel the need.

Neither the Kepler, CdF, nor the Sequoia is the kind of bike you can go fast on (althought it didn't stop some people being able to), the geometry is focus on stability than outright acceleration.
Bike like the carbon Diverge, GT Grade, Genesis Datum, Jamis Renegade to name a few, will fit your description more.

Cheers Ed.
I get that and to be honest i'm not sure any of them are the kind of bike I can/could go fast on. I guess fast is always relative though. As per my first post I am looking for a bit of a compromise and require a few bits of luggage include a child at times and so why I posted in here. I am leaning towards the CdF but wanted to check in with the forums' expertise I'm not barking up the wrong mountain pass.

What about the Equilibrium? it's defintely the kind of bike you can go fast on, and still be able to cope with some luggage.
Croix de Fer is a great bike for ticking all the box, but if you ride predominantly on the road, the slower CX steering may bug you (abet felt fast off road).

France fun. New seat pack to complete the set on the mini-hhsrb. Trés functional, plus chique.
I borrowed a Nelson long flap. Didn't break my saddle rails so I regard that as a win. Very much want one for my tourer though

Good man! Mind you, I think regular green camo for bar tape would work fine with the tires.. And a black saddle ;)

Reader's. This is a really fun bike. Notice the unused disc on the front. This bike will be getting disc brakes front and rear soon. And though the rim is anodized it is safe for the rim brake, so fear-not for my safety.

I think it needs some of that garish looking colourful camo bar tape..
