  • Yup! Bars, stem, and a change of brakes as I inherited a set of Deore XTRs.

  • Nice! Are you coming on the 24th?

  • I hope so. Gathering of in-laws that day. Tricky.

  • Sounds like a perfect excuse! :0)

  • Breaking up families since 2013..

  • Me broaching the subject

  • Anyone bring paragon machine works spares into the UK or is it a matter of shelling out for shipping from America?

Alternatively is there a good source for compatible titanium bolts and washers for sliding dropouts?

  • @coldharbour used engine case bolts on the sliders on my talbot IIRC

  • My thoughts on the train. With a hex head? Would mean it'd easier to get up to torque with less rounding, but would also meaning carrying a spanner on rides.

  • Allen. Had to drill them out in the end :)

    Hex head probably better, yea

  • Bit agricultural though. Might see if I can find some torx bolts that'll fit.

  • Hmm - at last a 51mm 100mm fork in the uk. Big price though.

  • Big price indeed. Big weight savings for the XC'ers too.

  • After a top fun day yesterday at Cannock Chase trails it's clear I need a full suspension bike.

    I'm smallish so probs 26 or 27.5.

Under £1000, nearer £800 would be nice.

    What are the go-to options?

For your money these are supposed to be very, very good.

http://paulscycles.co.uk/ usually has some good stuff in their sales but £1000 wont get you far.

Lots of used 26" AM / Trail bikes kicking around if you fancy going down that route

Anybody interested in a pair of 47mm KH 29er rims?

Built up but never ridden £50 for just the rims

Or £150 built to SS surly ultra new hubs.

    selling for holiday funds

  • If you're patient a 26" can be bought or built up pretty cheap. Mines coming along nice and cheaply.

At under a grand you're best served looking at complete bikes though.

  • Why can't Shimano make a 165mm SLX crankset.

    Buggerlugs

  • Mines coming along nice and cheaply

    is it done yet?

  • I think I may have decided to get new F&F and swap all the bits off my 26" hard tail, I can't imagine I'd ride it much if I got a full sus enduro type thing.

Any thoughts on a suitable frame?

Is there such a thing as a locking rear arm for the uphill bits?

  • You're welcome, by the way.

  • You're actually better off with a bit of compression on the up hills as it allows power to transfer to the ground instead of spinning the wheel. You can get plenty shocks with lockout but you're probably better off going with a really well damped shock.
I tried a Manitou McLeod recently and frikking loved it. Felt much more progressively damped then the Factory Float I was eyeballing and much cheaper to boot.
If you can find one, Trek Slash's from past few years made fantastic all rounders.

    Wutlol

  • Been focused on the roadie.

But all I need is crank arms, chain, and rear axle.

The bar stem combo is Fecking awesome.

  • Most shocks have a lock out. Mine has 4 positions. Lock - not quite locked- pretty open - very open.

I doubt I'll use it much unless I ride along the road to get to a trail.

I bought a commencal frame on clearance. No logical reason. Just always wanted a meta back in the day.

Can you use your hard tails fork? If it doesn't limit frame options it could save you a fair bit. I bought a new x-fusion fork. Well priced for the quality.

Worth looking here for 26" frames and bits.
