Yes, looks like the AS511SB may be the way to go, or a Bitex BX301F from Bikehubstore, the latter being slightly heavier but with bigger bearings (the Bikehubstore site is wrong - it has 2x 6900 bearings not 4x 688). The AS511SB has a better bracing angle though. Hmmmm...

Probably the old pattern TA if you want a chainring which works perfectly well for not much money. If you want black, TA Full Track is nice but pricey. Stronglight and Goldtec are decent but anodised after tooth cutting, which means they are dirty. Shimano and Sugino are good quality but neither company seems interested in your business if their pricing is any indication. Campag are good too but don't justify being twice the price of the old pattern TA. Gebhardt are well made but only really worth considering if you want a size outside the normal range.

If there are any mains sockets near windows overlooking it, might be worth setting up a camera.

GoPro-style action cams normally have a very wide field of view so you can spot people loitering or scouting. I have an SJCAM5000 which does at least 2K video (so zooming in at the target won't give you pixelated fuzz), has motion detection, can do looped recording (delete oldest video when card is full) and has a load of features that make it good for other purposes. Cost about £120.

@Oliver Schick - its more of a cage with a padlock than a bread bin, and in Wapping, and as I don't use it, I think I'll let one of the users deal with it from here. Same applies to use of cameras etc, it is right outside my front door, and they did threaten my neighbour with kicking her door down so I don't want to interfere more. My building has scaffolding around it atm, and the local thieves are having a field day (3 robberies in one weekend!) Maybe the council will sort something more secure...

Can anyone recommend a decent (and hopefully not too expensive) carbon seatpost for MTB.

Needs to be 27.2 mm and 25 mm min layback. The new Cannondales seem to have ones with a design like the Thomson layback ones, which was nice, but can't find them for sale anywhere.

Basically anything nicer / a material improvement over this?

I can recommend using a metal post and the right tyre pressure.

27.2 and MTB, you obviously need a t-mars dropper post.

Found out today that my OSCA was full of water. There's a small gap around the seatpost because of the Columbus air tubes. I'm assuming I should remove the seatpost and line the inside of the tubes with anti rust stuff but can anyone think of a decent way of filling in the gap around the seatpost?

I put a smear of grease in the "slit" of any seat tube that passes through my hands.

Any idea where I could get a pair of these tomorrow (Sunday) in London?
