Have you checked the outlet pipe to ensure it is still full-bore freeflowing,
with no blockages?
Have you checked the user serviceable drain off point near the filter which is designed o collect forgotten coins left in pockets?
Could try clothes-free 40C wash with litre of cheap (5%) Poundshop bleach and some washing soda.

Why have my clothes recently come out of the washing machine smelling significantly funkier then when they went in?
Machine was in the flat when I bought it three years ago but this only seems to have happened over the last month or so. It's a relatively contemporary looking Hoover. Tried the manual's recommendation of putting it through with detergent but no clothes at 90C, and also some special washing machine cleaning stuff to no avail.
I've always used non-bio capsules because environment. Unless there are other suggestions, weapons-grade Persil may have to be deployed.
