Meanwhile a new addition recently acquired. C40 MK4 probably 2002/3. It all seems pretty original, 1st gen '02 Campag Record Carbon Group (with the Carbon Chainset Option), Cinelli Ram MK1 bars (Not sure I'd like them but they're growing on me) and Ksyrium 1st Gen SL SSC's.
Took this photo the day I picked it up on the quick so excuse protruding brake lever. There was a creaking from what I thought was the bottom bracket but after swapping it out for another the creak was still there. Worst fear was the Titanium insert in the BB shell was loose but it turns out it was the NDS Crank arm. Since replaced it which ended up costing me nearly a quarter of what the whole bike cost but that's only my own impatient nature to blame.
Few changes to the setup from the previous owner, swapped brake lever orientation and moved the levers up the bars a bit more. The 1st gen RAM bars had the cable holes set quite low so it's not possible to get much higher than in the photo, the later bars had entry holes a bit higher up the bars.
It's a lovely bike to ride, hills are my thing, I love a steep challenge and there's little flex to the frame under load, it gives the feel of awesome power transfer.
Funnily enough I tried black tyres when the bartape was off to assess just that but my eyes drew me back to how it was. I do agree though it should look better but the proof was in the pudding. I may be in a minority though with that view :-)
