So I'd like to enter the first round of the London League, but have no idea which category. Doesn't appear to be a 30+ women's cat on the entry list.

Due to lower participant numbers at smaller/local races they tend to broaden the age categories. They would likely end up combining age groups on race day anyway. Although 13+ does seem like a very broad category. Worth contacting the organiser.
-
• #161
Just had a look, think i'll enter 13+ cruiser cat.
-
• #162
Ok so entry is asking for plate number, is that the one on the bars? Do we just pick our favourite number like footballers?
-
• #163
Generally you use the last three digits of your BC licence. You can pick a number but run the risk of duplicate numbers in which case you may be asked to modify your number on the day(most often by adding an x ie. 45x). Single digit numbers tend to be reserved for earned rankings W1 is world number 1, 1.5 is South Region number 1.
Not relevant for this race but at certain levels of racing background and number colours are different for cruisers v. standard classes and male v. female.
Hope this helps rather than confuses -
• #164
Yeah, that seems like the best bet. I certainly don't want to be mixing it with the Expert 14+ females.
-
• #165
That's really helpful, brilliant, thank you!
-
• #166
Yay, I'm going to enter as soon as I've decided on my perfect plate number...it may take some time :)

• #167
Will there be a safe place to leave bags/tools?
-
• #168
Congrats on you first foray into BMX racing today

• #169
It was definitely a great experience, but any little technique I had definitely went right out the window. Would be up for more racing!

I'm thinking I want to get a cruiser BMX and have a play at Burgess Park.
What's a good one?
-
• #174
Difficult question. So much is based on personal preference. These days there are very few manufacturers that import complete off the peg bikes to the UK. Haro and GT being the main ones. We have both at the Burgess track and have found the components on the entry level Haros to be more durable that the GT. There are lots of frames available but unless you have the components to build into a complete bike already can become a costly option. Used is a good option for a first bike if you have a FB account try https://www.facebook.com/groups/335669933240961/
I am happy to give my 2 cents worth on anything you may consider. -

Thanks.
What is a realistic weight for a BMX? 12kgs seems heavy.
EDIT - Why am I in the ladies forum?
Looking good
