  • Hello! Last night someone stole my bike from the corner of Noel Road and Colebrooke Row in Angel. It was attached to a pole with a Kryptonite D lock which they somehow managed to open...

    Make: Create
    Model: CRBLK
Colour: Black with neon yellow/teal spoke on back wheel.
Distinguishing detail: CLOUD 9 CYCLES STICKER ON CROSSBAR

Exactly like this bike... http://www.createbikes.com/ and approx 54cm frame. Its in good condition with a new front crank.

If you see one for sale anywhere or in use please let me know, many thanks.

  • Hi mate I'm pretty sure I saw a twatty looking kid with dark hair and a cap riding this down roman road last night about 545. I was driving he was handling this unladen very poorly. It stuck out as the cargo netting looks like your pic... Good luck!

  • Hi all,
Bike nicked in Putney from just outside the door of my flat (on the landing - silly I know) on St Johns Avenue. Pic attached. It's pretty unique, a bianchi frame painted blue with Campagnolo decals, Superstar wheels. Grateful if the community can look out for it.
    Thanks!

  • If you are reading this post, chances are you have had your bike stolen either recently or at some point in the past.

Could I ask, nay, implore that if you still have your bike, you go now and make a record of your frame number and take a couple of photographs of your bike. When you change a component or two, take another photograph. The frame number will be the best piece of information you can supply to the police as it is by far the easiest and most effective way we will be able to link the bike back to you.

The photographs will also assist in proving provenance should there be some question as to ownership.

If your bike has been stolen, consider contacting the shop from where it was purchased. Some will keep a record of frame numbers against customer details.

    Not all bikes have frame numbers, but most do. Once you have that number, visit http://www.bikeregister.com and create a free account where you can upload details and photos of your bike. There are other commercial sites and they are all useful - such as;

    https://www.alpha-dot.co.uk
    https://www.immobilise.com/about
    https://www.selectadna.co.uk/dna-asset-marking/dnabike

The Bikeregister scheme have a sticker and a marking kit which we (along with British Transport Police and City of London Police) offer for free if you attend one of our marking events. Follow the link below to find events in your area:

    http://www.bikeregister.com/events

The sticker and marking kit are a little obtrusive but easier to find and read for officers on the street who are able to confirm who is registered as the owner of the bike there an then at the roadside. The Alpha Dot scheme is different in that the marking is very discreet and less likely to be obliterated by the thief but also not as easy for the officer on the street to find and impossible to read without the correct equipment. We do not offer this service for free but it can be purchased at many bike shops or on the internet and I would suggest that is would be well worth having both to cover all bases.

We have thousands of bikes in back yards of Police Stations across the Met for which we are unable to trace owners. Some of this is caused by poor descriptions of the stolen bikes (it was blue. Yeah, and it had 2 wheels) some because of the property system we use but almost all because the frame number was not provided to the police when it was reported stolen.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me (about cycle crime related stuff of course).

  • Thanks officer, very much appreciated information and glad to see bicycle theft is being taken seriously.

  • Thanks for posting, Kieran. I hope it's OK that I've added your post to the first post in this thread:

    https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/176548/

Please let me know if anything needs to be changed or added there. It's quite old.

Hope the rate at which owners register their bikes gradually improves!

  • Stopped two punks from nicking a bike at the corner of Harford Street and Ben Johnson road last night. Heard an angle grinder from my balcony, look down, two punks on a scooter going at a lock. Shout, run down, they speed off. They had gone through one of those Abus folding locks but didnt have time to undo the cable. Other neighbours were on the scene and called the cops. We had to roll the bike in to the building and the cops came around to collect it later.

This was a Black and Orange Specialized Sirrus with hydraulics. If you have a mate whose had this bike stolen, its with the police!

  • One of those marketing events is today between 1600-2000. In shoreditch.

  • anyone missing a black brother classic track? town handlebars?

  • Recently had my 'dale criterium nicked from Bristol. Pic attacehd but its 1x7 Dura Ace 7401 and cinelli bars.

just on the off chance that you see it on gumtree or owt.

  • Had my biked stolen from outside my office this weekend (near Borough tube). It's a much loved single speed Charge Plug 0 which is a very distinctive neon yellow in colour (Cycle Surgery special edition).

    Frame Number: OBS/HB1YC000077

I've reported it to the police and it has an Alphadot, but no luck so far.

Would appreciate any help : )

  • Hey all,

My colleague had her bike taken from her hands late evening around London Bridge few days ago. Don't really know any details at the moment. It's a medium sized Orbea road bike with silver Quando wheels and Shimano 105 groupset.
Here is the only picture of it:

Please give me a shout if you see anything about.
    Cheers.

  • I spread this around on twitter when she posted and mentioned that the area should have good cctv. If you are able to check very local then a couple of streets around as they cycled away you might get a good face pic.

  • Thank you for retweet and info, much appreciated.

  • Had my Charge Mixer stolen last night from Black Prince Rd in Vauxhall. It has a custom cream powder-coat paint job, black mudguards, ergo grips and a black pannier rack. If you see it around please give me a PM or email to jon dot creighton at gmail

  • Hi all,

Stolen Ride and London Cycling Campaign are running a survey to find out more about the experiences and needs of cyclists, especially in relation to cycle theft.

We have teamed up with Mango Bikes to offer you the chance to win a Flat Bar Point AR Bike with Continental tyres, valued at £549.98!

The survey results will be expertly analysed by Quanteze, the online survey consultancy, and we'll report back on the findings once the survey has closed on the 4th October 2016.

Please spare a few minutes and do share with all! - surveygizmo.com/s3/2998966/LondonCycleTheftSurvey2016

    Thanks very much!

Hi Kieran - are you able to contact us about the bikes you are unable to trace owners. We are sure we can help.

  • Sharing for a mate, if anyone spots it

  • I had my Cannondale CAAD8 stolen from my internal hallway earlier this week. Gutted.

There were 5 other bikes there that went untouched. Pic of the same model/colourway attached, as unlike everyone else on this forum, I don't hink I actually took a picture of my bike!

  • Had my custom built 105 Carbon road bike stolen from outside 22 Kingsway this morning/afternoon, between 11:45 and 12:30.

Full 105 groupset, matte black aero frame, Vision Team 35 wheelset and a Black & White San Marco saddle.

No it didn't have a frame number as the frame wasn't branded. Please contact me if you see it - it really is one of a kind.

  • Hi guys,
Found out my daily bike has been stolen this morning from Deptford/Greenwich area. Its a red Peugeot Equipe, with a black Miche crankset, black omega wheelset, single front brake, black charge saddle and black front brake lever, on chrome drops. I had stuck Minale & Mann (my workplace) stickers - on it with matching spoke cards on the front wheel. Guessing these may have been removed now though. If anyone sees/hears anything please let me know!
    Andrew
