  • I just can't work out why the hell a woman shouldn't be allowed to wear a burkini for swimming if she so chooses. The association with religion is completely lost on me. Sure, some people may wear it because of that, but plenty of others may just choose to wear one for completely non-religious reasons. I wonder if they'll stage any burkini flash mobs to show the absurdity of these regulations.

  • Well that's it, there are some women who are forced to wear one or they can't leave the house, sometimes its religion but then men will also cover up, some of it is sexism (guys in western clothing while their missus is covered up fully) and some of it is I can't be bothered with showing flesh/I burn superfast but how do you make that distinction?

    You can't. In Germany there talk of a partial ban but only on the full face veil in public, not a "no covering up if you look Muslim" ban.
