  • Speaking from a position of total lack of experience but surely, surely, they've knocked out at least one, if we remove our crushingly cynical hats for half a second, no?

  • nah i just chose from the metallics at bob jackson and it came back much more green than the swatch looked, the klein green is my ultimate

  • Nope they are all gash, that's why they lose at Le Mans every year

  • lost 4 times since the millennium... (2 of those older brother Porsche)

Do u need handling at le mans?

  • TBH the thought of buggery in the woods by a camp full of drunk sausage has put me off so far.

  • Skiing in St Manton was hard enough.

  • What else does one do after the Cristal has run out and the same Audi keeps going round?

  • Yeah, looks like oak green which was a standard 993 colour, at least for later years.

There were two other similar metallic greens but Amazon is greener, Aventura is greyer and neither have the gold tinge.

Difficult to know in photos tho.

That is [was] a 993 from 1993-1998 so right at the end of the VW involvement and VW really only got involved with the 4 cylinder cars; 912,14,24,44,68.

  • As I said, the R8 is supposed to be good, though I've not driven one. Everything else is meh. Or more accurately, the competition were always ahead on the steering and handling front.

  • Racing cars don't count. Especially dieselyweasly ones.

  • @hoops

I've just remembered I also had a 1983 factory oak green 911 once, which was the same sort of colour, so it will be in the Porsche colours from then too.

Don't underestimate how gloomy it looks out of the sun / showroom lights. Get a swatch before you commit.

  • Many thanks to you and @rive_gauche for the tips!

Yep, would never pick a colour with inspecting a swatch first (Will probaby paint a scrap tube as test before I decide whether i like it or not!), but was just checking i'm actually looking in the right direction before I start hunting down paint codes.

I'm a big fan of colours that appear black at first glance, but change on closer inspection, so could be just what im after.

  • So how did the alfa sud and the lancia flavia/fulvia do it so well?

  • Clarify competition? Not trying to be a turd, I just don't get what we are comparing them to

  • What about if you just swerve to avoid a cat?!

  • I'm a big fan of colours that appear black at first glance, but change on closer inspection, so could be just what im after.

There's a really nice BMW dark blue that does this, my mate had a 2010 5 series in it. Looked black until the sun hit it. Maybe cobalt?

  • BMW saloons have generally been better handling cars than contemporary Audi saloons often Alfas and Mercs have too.

The TT never really drove any better than its Golf donor. You can get brutally quick TTs now, but Porsche, BMW, Alfa, Lotus etc etc sports cars are all much more tactile to steer around.

Big mile munching load lugging estates like the RS6 have generally been the only Audis I can understand anyone buying.

'Council estate Skodas' someone once called them. I would never use such a term, some of my best friends are council estates etc, but I understand the sentiment.

They're cars for people who put image above anything else. This is not a bad thing. I like Nike trainers and pay £40 for my haircut so I'm arguably the same.

  • My A4 is a simlar black / blue...

  • Putting a roofbox on isn't going to help the handling one bit. ;)

  • Jolly Rancher?

  • Big mile munching load lugging estates like the RS6 have generally been the only Audis I can understand anyone buying

Still liking mine. It's not even that thirsty. Compared to the Piglet, anyway.

But £40 for a haircut? Sheesh, I pay £20 and that's in London's Famous London, now that I've given up on all barbers' shops in Eloi.

  • That's a Turbo S that is. Rare as heck. I think there were about 9 in RHD. Not sure about Arena red / savannah leather tho.

  • I'm a big fan of colours that appear black at first glance, but change on closer inspection, so could be just what im after.
