Many schools that are now called "grammar schools" are almost entirely private today
Wittgenstein wouldn't have liked this.

That one's sailed right over my head, sorry.

Is there any benefit in using a longer steerer bung for my fork?
Had a bit of trouble with mine loosening so I was going to buy a knurled one - they come in 32 and 52mm lengths. Extra length = extra grip and extra clamp space? Am I missing something?
Cheers

Search for 'private grammar'. :)

Does anyone possess the ability to re-save a newer After Effects file so it works with CS5.5?
Or know a better thread/place to ask than here (without having to register on another forum).

Fuck it, I bought both length bungs. Because I'm worth it.

Thanks for all the advice early - definitely happy to be going heart over head.

Longer = more grip. I had trouble with one that was too short, replaced with a double length version and no worries.

Add some carbon assembly paste/tynan paste™ for good measure?
-
• #78339
That's what I figured. I ordered both in case the long one had issues and it can go in my parts box.

Been there, done that. To be fair, it's been a bit better since then but that might just be because I'm only commuting on it rather than bashing it over the Paris Roubaix course every day.

Helped my housemate fit a new chain on his 11speed ultegra-equipped bike. Bought a new KMC X11-93 chain from an eBay seller, used chain tool to cut it to length and fitted it with the supplied quick link. Within about a minute of his first ride on it this happened:
It's not the quicklink that's gone, just one of the normal ones somewhere in the middle of the chain. Did I do something wrong, or is this a manufacturing fault or something?
-
• #78342
Exchange it for a new one.
-
• #78343
So a manufacturing fault with the chain?
-
• #78344
Every once in a while, you get some dodgy chain.

Cool, thought/hoped so! I've emailed the ebay seller, will see what they have to say.

Glue it in à la @mdcc_tester ?

When visiting the US you need an ESTA visa waiver thing, do I need to get something similar for Australia, when staying for just over a week, or is it a case of filling out a landing card on the flight?
-
• #78348
Hah, you need an ETA, but the official Australian .gov.au website is fucked, won't allow you to choose "United Kingdom" as a country of origin, for whatever reason. Unless I've picked the wrong thing of course.
-
• #78349
Actually that's the wrong one, looks like I need eVisitor.

What a shit site.
The headset on my Mash, despite being tightened up and having no play, is steering extremely loose. Nothing touching the headtube, nothing touching the steerer. What could be going on here?
FWIW, it was fine until I removed the conical spacer and replaced it with a low-stack bearing cover (of a supersix, didn't fit perfectly tbh). Now I've removed the bearing cover and have the stem right on the split ring, and it's still dead wobbly. No chance I'd ride it no-handed, for example.
Help me internet, what stupid, basic thing am I missing?
