The headset on my Mash, despite being tightened up and having no play, is steering extremely loose. Nothing touching the headtube, nothing touching the steerer. What could be going on here?
FWIW, it was fine until I removed the conical spacer and replaced it with a low-stack bearing cover (of a supersix, didn't fit perfectly tbh). Now I've removed the bearing cover and have the stem right on the split ring, and it's still dead wobbly. No chance I'd ride it no-handed, for example.
Help me internet, what stupid, basic thing am I missing?
