I had the same ones. The bushing is a soft plastic. So I suspect the give was in this. It was up tight but could compress more and slide laterally when forced.
Also, not sure where I got ritchey from. Meant dt Swiss...

Because the closed cam one allow extra leverage with less effort, wether option cam mean more effort just to clamp it slightly tighter.
It's fine if you have those rim brakes bike since the pads sit further away from the rims, whether with disc brakes, the pads are a lots closer to the rotors.

im just so surprised the performance of the shimano skewer is just so much better than the planet x ones? i had the planet x ones up so so so tight, clearly not good enough
