Steel Beater frameset 54/55cm

I'm after a solid 55cm or thereabouts steel frameset with mudguard eyelets (rack mounts nice too) for running as a beater/commuter. Plenty of tyre clearance would be nice.

Ratty exterior is fine, but it must be straight and true.

I have a beater British Eagle frame and forks in this size. Has mudguard eyelets, but nothing for pannier racks.

Right, in that case I have a nice Peugeot Premiere frame and forks in your size, it's 55cm c-c, really clean and in good condition. It's made from Carbolite "Tube Special" tubing and would make an ideal conversion as it has semi horizontal drop outs, plus the bottom bracket and headset are included and are running smooth. It's also got internal cable routing for your rear brake cable and braze ons for guards. Anyway here are some pictures, let me know if interested:
