  • What size are you after? 59?

  • In that case, get the 34t chainring on the 39/49n chainset for light touring.

For brakes, Tektro CR-710 is cheap, reliable and powerful with a road pads insert and lots of adjustment.

Unless you hate cantis that is.

  • Thanks. Really pleased with it currently

  • At 6ft 3in not sure whether that or the 61- any input welcome

  • That is effectively what I have done with the CC. 1x10 setup for mid-range tours, then I have a Surly 135mm hub laced to an OpenPro rim for when I want SS or Fixed. 1 Bike - 3 modes.

Dealing with the shifter cable is the only annoyance. I use a bar-end shifter, so that means re-wrapping. Or what I might do is just get a longer stem and a riser with levers and grips. Then just transplant the whole cockpit and cables when I swap. Any alternative recommendations welcome.

  • Unless you have very short legs or otherwise very uneven proportions, it should probably be the 61. I'm 6'2" and ride a 61cm Fuji Track.

  • Thanks, I have a 60cm crosscheck and day one but a 58cm caadx. I much prefer not to have loads of seatpost exposed too.

  • With the dt shifters i can just leave those on and take the cables out, i can put on any bars i like, makes things a bit easier, i also plan on a 135mm SS surly hub to, i'm sure i will build it as a SS/fixed mtb at some point

  • No need really, i like 39:49, i only really use the 32t to try wheelies :P

I already ordered some Avid shorties, look decent enough, i want to run drop levers and guards so i need canti's anyway.

  • I like the idea of moving to dt shifters too. But I didn't want to outlay for them at the moment. But in the future for sure.

  • I've always used them, many years, many many bikes, I got 10sp dura ace for the Surly and they were well worth it.

  • For some reason I couldn't find a solid answer for this. What size p-clip do you guys use for the fork? Looking to use a front rack with my yet to be delivered roller. I imagine it be 19 or 22mm?

*edit. It was 13mm if anyones interested.

  • anyone thinking of getting rid of their surly ;), looking to pick one up

  • 51cm isn't a steamroller size?

  • Indeed it isn't...my mistake. The streamroller isa 53 - just measured it to check.

  • Nice matchy matchy. Stem is a tad bulky for my liking, but looks fun!

Heres mine - now sold - size 62cm was a little to long for my liking

  • only after the frame but thanks

  • I could not bring myself to dispose of the roller - so I am re-assembling it this week. Parts are on the way! Going back to risers.

  • Anyone recommend me a set of cranks that are 130BCD, black but 175mm in length. I split the Sugino set I had on the roller, so the cranks are on the CC. I need to swap them back, @edscoble please chime in.

  • Lasco? 170mm thought, but luckily you're tall to begin with.

  • @edscoble - Those look like they will do the trick. Are you going by price or are they decent?

  • anyone looking to shift a 53cm? if so please get in touch!

  • anyone selling a 62cm in monkey arse red? I think the mudguard mounts and large clearance could make me sell my goldsprint.

or any idea where to get one?
