  • understandably so, twas the bargain of the century :( but hey, would have been too large for you anyway, right ;)

  • Actually he just got back to me. Says others have bailed out because of the 170€ the lbs is asking for packing and shipping to the UK

  • Those shifters! Dear me

  • Little wonder, €170 is ridiculous.

  • I think if you consider the frameset and some components + shipping (normal human rates!) and even adding the LBS fee, it comes at a more than fair price.

It is ridiculous to ask 170 euro for s&h though. Just name a price for the thing and add s&h.

  • I had first dibs on that + bailed on the 170euro shipping price/

  • These are the framesets built around 1970s, if this is true and no other types of track frameset were made (but surely they had made some on order), then this should be a nice 531 quality frameset:

Here are the models from the 1970's in ascending order of quality:

Model 58, 68, 64: Junior Racer, smaller frames and wheels
Model 70, 71: Black Diamond, seamed tubes
    Model 74: E.C., seamed tubes
Model 82: Super Tourist, seamed tubes
Model 88, 89: Super Tourist Deluxe, Reynolds 531 plain gauge seamless
Model 80: San Remo Cote d'Azure, Reynolds 531 plain gauge seamless
Model 78: Olympic, Reynolds 531 plain gauge seamless
Model 92: Super Route, Reynolds 531 plain gauge seamless
Model 90, 94: San Remo, Reynolds 531 double butted
Model 96, 98: San Remo, Track Bike, Reynolds 531 double butted
Model 76: San Remo, (aka Equipe or Professional) Campagnolo NR, Reynolds 531 double butted

Also 1970s catalogues shows this was indeed the only track model (but called Model 98) and it was in 531: http://www.velobase.com/Resource_Tools/DownloadFile.aspx?Path=%2fCatalogScans%2fFalcon.zip&FileName=Falcon.zip

but it doesnt' look the same. Also the headtube lugs look kinda fancy and more Nervex than Prugnat.

  • Ha, no way! Just saw your post here, I wrote him a message half an hour ago, saying that I have friends in Vienna and Innsbruck who could pick up the bike from him so that he wouldn't have to take care of the packaging and shipping himself, provided the bike is located in either of these cities which it is probably not. Frankly it's ridiculous to post it to the UK, not only for the shipping prices but also due to the fact that it's fairly easy to get reasonbly priced track bikes in the UK, whereas in Germany and Austria Prices are way more inflated. In the UK, the 170€ would make it a fair Price, in Germany it is an absolute steal!

  • Well if one's a Falcon lover, they don't pop up that easily in the UK either. Asked him for more pictures.

  • Are you? I'm just looking for an affordable track bike to be honest, which seems like an impossible challenge in Germany. The best offer I found so far was a Ciocc which had been powdercoated in an ugly colour and was offered for 400€ it was gone within hours....

  • No, not really, but for free it looked nice.

If you manage to collect it from him is all yours.

  • Cheers, if you get it and realize that it's too big or you don't like it, can I get first dibs if you sell? :D

  • BTT: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=349161 this Looks like a nice deal but I don't get why he didn't paint the fork to match the HT ....

  • Very easy to get the shade slightly wrong, whereas black is black. Better to look intentionally contrasting than slightly off?

(Shame about the black fork) but I like it, would give it a shot to try a nice Duell out in TSX!

  • not really worth the effort to get it sandblasted and powdercoated ... It would have been a better deal with the tatty chrome forks, all it takes is some nail varnish. But still, 120gpb for a tsx Duell with a number hanger and cinelli lugs is a great deal, I'd say go for it and make it a RGR beater or sth. cool

  • It is a great deal indeed. Not looking to get one, but if I was looking I'd have taken it more with the chromed forks than with those horrible black ones.

  • Was looking at that Duell last night, it is a shame about the fork. There was a nice one on here recently but SLX.

  • It's really tempting! I always wanted a bike with a cinelli Spoiler bb but the 57,5 TT is a bit too long for me + I have enough (if there's such a thing) road bikes atm :)

  • When I lived in Berlin, a Diamant track frameset came up on Ebay Kleinanzeigen for €120.

I was there within half an hour, but someone had already been me to it.

The guy selling it had been part of the Dynamo sports club in the 1980s and didn't think it was worth much.

Luckily it was too small anyway.

  • It's crazy, right. Check out this really nice textima for example: https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/reserviert-textima-sprintrahmen-von-1987-bahnrad-pista-track-ddr/509212483-217-993 I contacted the seller re another item and complemented the frame specifically saying that I'm not interested to buy since I knew it would have been out of my Price range. The seller was really nice and told me that the current offer is already beyond 1k € and that he was surprised how many People enquired. Don't get me wrong, this Looks like a great frame but >1k€ is a crazy Price...

  • That is awesome though! The price doesn't surprise me too much to be honest, there is a big market for things like that and the Textima bikes really are something special.

    https://m.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/orig-ddr-diamant-bahnradrahmen-bahnrad-rahmen-ifa-fixie-rh61-a-/506505578-217-3821

I'm tempted by this, good price and my size...probably long gone.

  • True, there is a market for these things and the frame has a lot of really great details. But still, if you compare the german market with the french or british market for track bikes, it is easy to see that prices in Germany are more inflated. That Diamant looks nice, you should check it out!

  • Sent you a PM, just in case....................

  • Nice condition Woodrup 20" frame set
