No ECCA 10' this afternoon :(

• #14003
What's the FUCT 10? Is it fixed only?
-
• #14005
Or buy track specific chainring bolts?

• #14006
Will wait for Xav to pm me back. If not keen will message you.

Sigh... Just (5s acc. Garmin) outside the hour for this morning.
Wind was brutal, course was unforgiving, I panicked over the motorway flyover and that really, really cost me (twice). Oh well. Was fun. Bar the fails above, cramp at mile 16 and bottle failure (own and actual!). -
• #14009
The only bottle failure was bringing one for a 25.
Props though!

• #14010
Easier to do a slower first 25 and PB easily next time than do it on a cheat course and spend the next year unsuccessfully trying to beat your PB!
As @umop3pisdn says, there's no real need for a bottle on a 25, just make sure you aren't too far from a drink when you finish!

And even closer to one from when you get out of bed to your start time.

Was pretty drunk last night. Felt dehydrated, bottle was a comfort measure.

I'm doing the Catford CC 25 on Sunday, and someone's giving me a lift so I can't back out this time.
Looks reasonably flat with a couple of bumps so I'm going to go with 50x16 (84gi) and see tomorrow what that's like up the drag to Epping and up to Buckhurst Hill.
-
• #14014
The course is pancake flat apart from the climb that starts just before 9 miles, which goes up in 4 steps, so you will get a bit of respite between each one. Obviously you go down this too, but it's not that steep so you shouldn't spin out.
If they use the same HQ as last year then you'll drive down the course along the A2070, so you will get an idea of the hill whilst driving down it.
-
• #14015
Thanks for that. I'll take a 15t as well just in case but I think 84GI sounds like a good option anyway.
-
• #14016
haha, ideal preparation then....!

Before I list on TTF anyone interested in stuff like:
Shiv aero stem and carbon base bar ready to go with carbon DA levers and the Non-Deathâ„¢ low-stack-height mounts?
DA9000 full aero carbon rings - I think I have BNIB 51T, used 55T and near new 58T
Large Black/White Bell Javelin helmet -
• #14018
Oh dear, possibly. About to start building up a fixed machine for next season.
I was on this thread to find out the deal with brakes and CTT regs - do I need one and does it have to be the front?
-
• #14019
I was going to let go of my DA9000 cranks too but thinking about it they're my only other 165mm cranks with the potential to run Compact and Normal rings.
Oh, I also have a set of lightly used DA9000 TT rings that can go. They're 55/42 - £165

You need a front brake and a lockring, or both brakes.
-
• #14021
Yes, you need brakes. CTT isn't FixxaySkiddahz in French or something.
https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/articles/view/11
"Brake levers must be secured to the handlebars in such a position as to enable the competitor to readily apply both brakes whilst holding the handlebars at their widest point. The width of handlebars shall be no less than 35 cms.
On tricycles and tandem tricycles, two brakes may operate on the front wheel but otherwise the braking systems must operate independently on both front and rear wheels.
Bicycles with a fixed wheel shall have a left hand threaded locking device securing the fixed sprocket. Similarly, tricycles with a fixed wheel shall have a suitable locking device or alternatively shall include an integral system as part of the design. Machines with fixed wheel require only a brake operating on the front wheel(s)."

Cheers. I was sure I needed at least one but was hoping to hide it away at the back.
-
• #14023
TriRig or Magura for brake aeroz.
-
• #14024
I'm interested if you don't get on with them.

Is anyone doing the Bossard Wheelers CC 10 in Tring on Sat?
Looks like an early train unless anyone is driving out from London.
I just reckon it's coincidence. Hit a bump at the wrong time and chain unships. Simples.
It's a driveline - unless the chainring bolts are loose - what "develops"? Nothing much. Chain wears a bit, springs might back off a bit.
My cock is ok, sit bones have nearly scabbed over fully.
