Just need to stay awake another hour to hopefully catch another gold in the TKD.

Balls. Silver.

Seen his post match interview... you have to feel for the guy.
-
• #655
Why? One each for the team sprint, team pursuit, rowers, sailors and all other teams as well then?
-
• #656
I know road cycling is a bit different, but is it the only 'team' based sport where only one member of the national team gets a medal?
-
• #657
Triathlon as well. And what happened there helpfully illustrates the problem with team medals for road cycling. Gold and silver were picked up by competitors from the same country. If you gave out team medals what would you do then? Would you give Jonny Brownlee and Gordon Benson a medal as well for being there solely to assist Alistair? Would you then have to give Alistair Brownlee and Gordon Benson a silver medal too or ignore that Jonny came across in the silver medal position and go down to the next placed competitor?
The big issue here is that both triathlon and road cycling are both team and individual events.

Yeah, would seem to make sense.
I would say that if you rely on another athlete to get to hold then it shouldn't be individual medals but then everyone relies on their coaching and support team etc.

Yeah - l enjoyed that Hockey - like an exciting football match
That pitch is a bit er ... blue ? What is that spray that comes off the surface when struck ?I could do with those top front teeth these days.

The astro turf is sprayed with water regularly to maintain the pitch surface. It makes it less likely to injure players falling on it and makes the ball roll straighter apparently.

Really feel for Lutalo Muhammad. His blubbing interview is being repeated every 15 minutes on the breakfast news this morning.
-
• #663
Yep the hockey was great. Far more exciting than any of the football I watched in The Euros. More passion also
-
• #664
Lutalo Muhammad is just upset because he let Piers Morgan down.
-
• #665
I wonder if today's MTB event will be as crashy as the road race and BMX.
-
• #666
Supposed to be pretty technical isn't it?
There's a rather dicey descent on the tri course.

Tommy Daley struggling with the semis, doesnt look hopeful for making the finals tonight

They made it look easy :)
Strong high-five game by Nash!

Good race, I enjoyed that!
They made it look easy :)
According to some over on the singletrack forum, the course was too easy.

"I don't want to accuse anyone of anything but it is all very questionable."
Couple of pages ago I know but an epic quote, applies to any situation really. I'm going to use it liberally.

Simon is away at a wedding so I've turned into an absolute savage whilst watching taekwondo
"Kick him in the fucking head!"
At no other time is it acceptable to encourage this.

I'm watching it, muted, with my parents. None of us know what's going on.
Dad has gorged himself on the Olympics and now proclaims to know everything there is to know about most sports, particularly track cycling - "did you know" he said, "that it's extremely hard to even get the bike moving in the first place?"
Yeah thanks dad. -
• #673
Good thing you're watching it muted. Some one keeps doing the most infuriating screaming.
-
• #674
Other choice dad quotes -
On track cycling: "did you know that the sprint races are actually very tactical?"
On athletics: "did you know that to win, it's where your body crosses the finish line, so you can throw yourself across the line?"
Also, all the other countries are cheating and Mo Farah is totally clean lolololol. -

He only eats Quorn.
No Contador-esque steroids-in-the-steak excuses at least.
Agreed.
Hockey was a great watch. Canne believe we're beating China.
