It's been faultless all season, until now: I can't believe it's a "system" problem, but something that's developed and which I can't identify.

I just reckon it's coincidence. Hit a bump at the wrong time and chain unships. Simples.
It's a driveline - unless the chainring bolts are loose - what "develops"? Nothing much. Chain wears a bit, springs might back off a bit.
My cock is ok, sit bones have nearly scabbed over fully.
