  • Milner to Everton.
    Taps nose

  • Christ - it's woeful trying to find any coverage of the championship isn't it. Having to follow on BBC text / forums is like following on ceefax from BITD. Disappointing to drop 2 points against Huddersfield, but definite signs that we are improving. New keeper has already cost us 3 point in two games which is a worry, but a couple more in to bolster midfield, upfront and RB and we'll be on the way.
...and Lescott to Rangers or Sunderland - yes please.

  • local press for team stuff

  • Oopse wrong thread. As you were.

  • Yeah, but B'ham Mail. >>>>>>>>>>>>

I read the Cornydian which ignores everything non-PL / CL.

  • Local BBC radio.

It's the only time I phone my dear old mum. Hello mum, put 'radio on so I can listen t'game. Cheers, I'll call you again next week.

  • The one benefit of being in the conference is that local radio is broadcast over t'internet as there is no exclusive fancy football league deal forcing you to pay some third party for it. Glad i wasn't listening to us getting hammered 6-1 last night though..

  • I'm not sure whether Villa will have it but a lot of Football League clubs have Player (Clarets Player in Burnley's case). Cost about £35 a year but had live commentary, extended highlights and full match replays for the really dedicated.

On a separate note, there was a footballer who celebrated by rubbing his thighs, Vic and Bob style. I think it was Ruel Fox but Youtube isn't giving me any joy. Did I imagine this?

  • Big game tomorrow @Chalfie @Ramsaye. Haven't won away in over a year now, so not expecting much. Hope to sneak a draw and avoid any goalkeeping gaffs.

  • I got 45-1 on us beating you by three or more goals.

    #cheekyfiver

  • Big game? Are we playing Forest?

  • 45-1?????????

my god thats good odds. Who's that with?

  • bonkers money for Benteke

  • Really? I think it represents reasonable value.

Comapre him to someone like Lukaku who over the past 2 seasons has scored a goal every 217 minutes, Benteke has score one every 177 minutes. Lukaku is younger but a similar style of player and talked about being valued at £50m+

Harry Kane is down at around a goal every 130 minutes

  • Those figures are a bit misleading though aren't they? Both Kane and Lukaku play almost every minute of every game in a season, whereas Benteke has barely started a game since moving to Liverpool.

Benteke has an almost Arsenal-like injury recurrence, he's incredibly one-dimensional (unlike Lukaku, who actually contributes when not scoring) and bar one half decent season at Villa, it's hard to point at why he might be worth that.
The only real reason is demand is higher than supply for goal scorers. Doesn't mean it represents value though.

  • Lukaku scores more and has easily double the assists, is younger and a far better player than Benteke. That's probably why he's valued at £50m and Benteke at £30.

  • In 3 years with us (while we were crap) he scored 50 goals in 100 odd appearances. Play to his strengths and he's awesome. Liverpool was always a terrible move for him - the team that put in the least number of crosses. I think he'll do well at Palace.

  • It's a great deal :)

  • He's also 2x better than jordans ibe and henderson

  • Liverpool have done pretty good business on the sell side

  • That might ring true if we'd not bought them in the first place...

  • Decent return on Smith and Ibe - most of the money back on Benteke and Allen. Could be a lot worse.

  • I can only understand this with a graphic or if Jamie Jackson summarises.
