  • Or just Athena, as the price is similar, just old version.

  • Because it's twice the price! (Chortle chortle)

  • Potenza cranks look like a boat anchor in real life.

  • Coming back to the discussion on silver compact bars, I can assure you that sanding off the middle part of deda piegas is a major pain in the ass due to their slightly uneven surface structure. I did it yesterday and it took me quite a while. Might be worth asking/begging them to offer a silver option as there seems to be a market for it.

  • Back on topic..... ;-)

  • Threw this together from the old road bike, black stem look pretty good.

  • Actually just found a NOS 90 degree stem that'll compliment the unicrown fork;

  • Why didn't they just call it Campagnolo 105?

    static.evanscycles.com/production/components/groupsets/product-image/969-638/shimano-105-5800-groupset-silver-EV222557-7500-3.jpg

Because Campag thinks that Potenza sits between Ultegra and Dura Ace.

  • Haven't posted mine yet by the way:

    #anyexcuse (right @Ordinata ?)

  • Threw this together from the old road bike, black stem look pretty good.

That looks rather nice. Lovely paint/colours on that frame. What are the cranks? Sugino?

  • Cheapest square taper chainset I can find in SJS Cycles (£25), it look good from a distance but the ring look cheap up close.

Still, for £25 I can hardly complain.

  • Just finished this build. Upgraded from a mixed 7/8 speed group. Need to sort out the rear wheel QR slipping.

  • @edscoble good example of an A-head converter that looks good, I take it you're going to convert it back to a quill though (crowd cheers)?

@jzk dare I say black hoods?

  • Are you using it with 10 speed? Looks just the ticket for a cheap replacement for the crappy one-one touring chainset on my wife's Mercian

  • Yeah, at the moment it was a direct swap from the Genesis Volare, and easier to get the fit sorted before getting the quill stem with the Nitto classic drop bar to pair with (got a 120mm stem and a 73mm reach handlebar).

  • Those chainset are a perfect cheap replacement that doesn't look half bad on any old bike, it will work with any speed chains you have lying around.

  • Nice one, ordered one. The one-one i had on there looks ok, but the chainrings are made of cheese, and the rivets holding them in place interfere with the chain.

  • A timely resurrection of this thread as i'm about to embark on this.

  • Very nice. Which group are you thinking?

  • Very nice. Looking forward to seeing how this develops.

  • chrome fork or carbon?

  • I've been paitently waiting for an original set of forks to come up for a couple of months but to no avail. I'm currently favouring Columbus minimal 1" and a record threadless headset to keep it Italian. Groupset wise either Ultegra or Veloce, not sure yet.

  • Doesn't need to be original, just chrome and columbus usually sufficent.

Whichever brake hood you find more comfortable, both groupset will still look good (abet Veloce is more Tiagra than Ultegra).

  • Lovely Frame! @anidel is gonna be jealous, he's been looking for a gatorade Bugno for quite a while. Keep in mind that the forum already has a leader AX with Ultegra. You should rob a bank and go full Super Record 11 ;)

  • @jambon got one with SRam, so we need one with Campy :) Athena 11 silver would look the part
