  • So I hear. Second hand prices are high and they don't do it for me aesthetically, still worth a look.

  • Beemer was going to be my suggestion.

Fireblades are supposed to be pretty tasty these days too.

If your heart is set on another fruity Italian though, getting anything else will leave you wishing youd got the 1098 instead

  • You could buy my Triumph Thruxton. It only works in dry weather so that will keep you safe.

Or my Porsche. 4 lovely wheels to stop you falling over again.

Out of your choices I don't think you'll like anything with 4 cylinders after all that soulful V twin loveliness. But maybe a Triumph triple?

  • I suspect you're right, but I am tempted by the 848 - apparently very good on twisty roads

  • Ha! You and vehicles is like you and jobs...

  • What, followed by

Pleasepleaseplease let me actually keep liking the Aston Martin

  • trip to Transport Museum in Alford last Sunday for Guy Martin colletion

  • That is interesting...you know chris?

  • Not know, he's serviced my bike when the valves needed doing. And re mapped it.

    Good quality work.

  • a Panigale

Ducati 848 Evo - possibly the most sensible choice? Really usable on the road and track.

Ducati 1098S - gets better reviews than the 1198S, worth the extra money over the 848?

Honda Fireblade - just not sure I can bring myself to do it

That's a very though decision you have there, Panigale or this animal in the pic would certainly win:

But if you want to save money I would go with the 848...

  • Got some photos this morning. Suit is DE 54 on top and 52 on bottom. RST jeans are 36. Triumph Jacket is Large. Gloves are both L or XL, forgot to check. Boots are 11. Black and white jacket is marked as 56 but is smaller than the suit jacket, so fuck knows. No prices in mind, just make me a sensible offer and it's yours.

  • .

  • Seen the spy pics of the soon to be unveiled Sportster 939?
(Ducati are stressing it's not a Panigale, but is)

  • Suzuki bolts and screws. I've eaten cheese with a harder consistency.

  • Did you use a jis screwdriver?

  • I've got a really bad itch for a sportsbike.

I don't really want a bad out of hell litre bike, because too fast. We'll I'd love a fireblade, but I know what I'm like.

Gsxr 750. Anything else I should look at?
I am 6'1 with long legs!
Want something affordable, so I can take it to the track and ride it there. Maybe a bit of project.

  • Aprilia RS4 with a really loud aftermarket exhaust?

All the show but without the go :p

A more serious answer is something like a CBR600RRRR. From what I've seen they seem to be relatively inexpensive.

  • Plenty of supersports that have been used as track bikes to be picked up cheap on eBay. Japanese ones haven't been updated meaningfully in the last 8 years so spare parts are cheap and available for when you crash it.

  • Got to have some go. Just not missile balistic go.

The ktm is 120bhp, so it's pretty rapid. It's fast enough really, a bit faster would be fine. But a huge amount faster just isnt needed.

  • KTM RC8's are a bit bigger than your average sportsbike too - but discontinued and not produced for long so would be expensive to repair

  • Yam R6?
I'm 6'6" and have sat on one (not ridden it in anger though) and it seems roomy enough.

  • Sorry I meant my KTM. I've a SMT 990.

And yeah, I though GSXR750 would be cheaper than they are, maybe summer inflation but they seem a lot of money 2nd hand.

Maybe @DethBeard need to find somewhere I can try and ride a load really, that are cool. Would happily pay to be able to sit on/try a load of bikes.

  • Not that I really know anything, but if you're thinking about track and a bit of a project I'd guess you want something ubiquitous.
