What was up with the servers last night? Lots of failed connections.
-
• #6054
DNS issues resulted in internal routing errors within Linode that rendered our servers unreachable.
I'll be looking to move off of them at some point, but I need to migrate the front-end off of Django first.

What I could do is put an alert on the "Edit profile" page to warn when a username would not be @able .
But... lots of people know this, and explicitly chose their name in order to not be @mentioned.
May be perfect for @WillMelling?

How do I login with Chrome on an iPad? I get the Persona 'logging you in'-thing, but then it just goes back to the forum as a guest. Have played around with privacy settings, but nothing seems to work.

Sign out and sign in again - after that its flawless.
-

I get this too, would be glad to know the reason why. Persona works fine when using Chrome both on my PC and on my Android phone.
Sign out and sign in again.
Persona never signs you in, so this isn't possible.

^^

Try to enter wrong login details and login correct afterwards
-
• #6062
Yes, exactly. Works fine on all other platforms, except the iPad.

I had the same issue, but can't remember exactly what I did to make it work - something double sign in, refresh or sign out somewhere.
-
• #6064
Signed out and now my persona signing in doesn't get me in, even though the Persona sign in went without errors

It is the Safari privacy settings.
Disable private browsing in iOS and Safari.
Yes, I'm serious.
Apple prevent Google from shipping their own Browser, so Chrome on iOS is actually a wrapper of the Safari libraries and is subject to the Safari preferences.
The Safari and iOS private browsing modes block third party cookies, which wipes out Persona.
Disable Safari and iOS private browsing, and Chrome works.

I'd already disabled the private browsing in Safari, as I found an earlier post, where you mentioned that. How do I disable the iOS part? Google doesn't really spell it out for me.
-

And why does other third party browsers work, without fiddling with Safari settings? Dolphin works fine. Does Apple only block Chrome?

Does Apple only block Chrome?
Pretty much.
Welcome to Google vs Apple vs Amazon vs Facebook. They all screw each other and in turn affect end users.
But if you can't figure it out, fret not I'll be changing the whole auth thing within a month or two.

But if you can't figure it out...
So it's not just a simple on/off setting, or is it a rite of passage to keep me from using the forum if I can't figure it out myself?

I have no Apple devices :)
It means I can't actually help you solve it. But I know it does work because other people use it (and I see the stats in Google Analytics).
I meant "I can't figure it out (and tell you how)" and that I'm winging it on the advice... I know it works, I know the issue is this private browsing stuff... I can't actually help you.
But... if you fail to figure it too... then hey, you've lived with it a while, live with it a while longer and it will be super fixed by me just replacing the whole of the authentication stuff.

Ah, ok. I clearly misunderstood the tone of your post. Language barriers ;) I'll live with Dolphin for a bit more then.

Not a bug, but there's something linked on this page: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/132944/?offset=20025#comment12096752

Solved.
Image on external site was no longer being served, and that external site was hacked.
I've deleted the post in question.
And that works on Android.
