Good to know, I've looked into it quite a bit now and it seems very possible with the only unknown being the insurance and how easy it'll be to get coverage for less than a year.
Been surfing craigslist and ebay and seems like an early 70s beetle can be had for around $2000usd, the more I think about it the more I doubt I'll ever want to come home...

Anyone here got experience insuring a car in the states (specifically California) on a uk drivers license?
I'm planning to go over there late September and roadtrip/camp/couch surf my way around California while riding bikes and surfing. Looking to buy a cheap car out there and potentially ship
