  • That's pretty rubbish...

  • This is the commuting thread. Nothing that Sharkstar has said suggests he was commuting. So not only did he proceed across a major junction no-handed and clearly drunk, it looks like he posted about it in the wrong thread.
Now, I've met Sharkstar and a less appropriate name it would be hard to imagine; there is nothing about him that suggests the graceful menace of a shark and neither in this world nor the next would he be said to possess star quality. Whelkfan might be more on the money.
Either way I think we can now move on.

  • Good about way home: Comfy new SMP saddle and sun.

Bad chain came off and jammed. I need to do some derailleur tuning and replace cables me thinks... :/

  • Have we chosen a winner between @Sharkstar and the cross driver yet?

How even does a roundabout work? Is it best to stand still and tug at it or hold on and run round it?

  • It's been emotional.

  • And to think I loved you once.

  • I fucking hate the bridge st / westminster bridge / victoria embankment junction. There are lots of options now for getting on a bike from parliament square to victoria embankment eastbound on superhighway but they are all shit. The 'correct' one, i.e. waiting a fucking ridiculous amount of time at three sets of lights on the superhighway which are always red and then still having to contend with people still crossing and looking the wrong way / catching Jigglypuff when it's your turn winds me up. Fuck's sake/10.

  • ^^All you loved was your own reflection in my eyes, my beautiful, blue, pellucid eyes.

  • Guys this whole roundabout, priority whatever conversation.

    Cyclechat is that way >>>>>>>

  • It was a one-night stand, and you know very well how Will is expert at disappearing into the night, leaving you wanting more.

  • It's a rubbish design that could not very easily be worse, and it'll take a long time to put it right.

  • Can't resist a race, even in my work clothes.

    Sweaty/10

  • Oh how I missed riding a fixed gear bike again, plus skinsuit & sunshine (though a tad colder than I was expecting)

    10/10

  • Did the other person know you were racing them?

  • It was just perfect this morning. I left a bit early so I could take it easy and ended up catching pretty much every green light. Perfect cadence the whole way in to the office and arrived feeling fresh and rejuvenated, instead of dizzy and drenched.

    10/10

  • waiting a fucking ridiculous amount of time at three sets of lights on the superhighway

    So much this.

I'm really disappointed with how it seems like cycles are being punitively held for some perceived 'payback' for being lawless.

  • rode in on summer bike this morning, and it felt glorious. Good weather is addictive. And no point in having a pretty bike for the summer if you never get to ride it..
hoping to break out early and show it off some more on the commute to @>>>>>>'s drinks..

  • We both know that's not the point :)

  • @cornelius_blackfoot

And no point in having a pretty bike for the summer if you never get to ride it

    Yeah!

  • It's always the same thing, you overcomplicate junctions and you have to have more signal phases inside a typical signal cycle. The best thing is always to reduce the number of flows that approach a junction, not increase it.

  • Please stop, this thread feels like it's going round in circles.

  • This morning I rode my race bike ('cross). Felt really nice and I hurtled along at silly speeds. Soft tyres really absorb the rough ground well, tubeless so not too much penalty in rolling resistance, disc brakes to stop when needed. If only I can be as quick at training tonight when I suspect I will be handed my arse on a plate for being the slow fat guy at the back of any group.

  • I end up just jumping the light on th cycle path, and approach with caution.

Bit annoyed that they simply make us wait for the light on small side street rather than the motorists wait till it's safe to turn.

  • Riding through saddle sores at the moment, but loving this weather.
