But if it's not on Strava, did it happen? I don't think so.

• #3703
Yep, no one was aware of your short ride for a kebab.

Trying to export a year's worth of activities from Garmin Connect, but it only lets me export 20 at a time to .csv - Any way around having to export lots of files and then merging?

nvm, the 'Reports' screen did what I was ultimately trying to achieve.

Garmin
You inept fucking cunts, your latest update has now entirely fucked my units ability to navigate. It spends ages trying to plot a route and then immediately crashes and turns itself off.

Any way to get rid of that top banner on the map screen that tells you which way you're heading, if you're off course (with a gpx file) or gives the next turn (with a tcx file)? I just want a full screen map with a line to follow, this banner takes up nearly half the screen on the 520.

yeah you can in the settings, activity profile, map, navigation off.
Or if it's not there just hunt, it's a maps page setting though.

ah yes, under the option "Guide Text" in the activity profiles menu. Why so many menus Garmin?
Thanks!

Anyone have any recommendations for an Edge 1000 cover that will enhance the shitty waterproofing of the SD card slot?
Mine got waterlogged during those storms in Montenegro and killed some of my TCR ride (got most of it back when it dried out) but I'd like to enhance the protection. I'd need the charging port to be available though so maybe a gel case with the USB port cut away?
Any suggestions?

The standard one is good.
I taped my sd port over with duct tape.Exactly the same thing happened to me.

Why you no tell me this BEFORE the race? :P
Cheers, I'll have a look at standard one.

• #3714
Why do people buy these? I thought I'd made it clear they're not fit for purpose.
-
• #3715
wish I'd seen it , not all that, was bought new with the bundle about a week ago, two shut downs not acceptable so going back and will see what they say, nearly slung it in sea on way back

Just to add to the anecdotes, I've had 0 issues with mine over a 4000k tour in North America and a fair bit of riding here in the UK. Have only recently installed maps so maybe issues will come with that, but so far it's been fine, awkward UI aside.

I've looked on line and when they're good, they're good , I never touched the off button , i lost what I had done , not cool for a week old imho , I rebooted it and will go back tomorrow

If it got an SD card in it, take it out.
-
• #3719
i put a maps europe card in, take it out and put it back in?
-
• #3720
Take it out and see how it perform, sometime the SD card may be corrupted
-
• #3721
out now ,will ride back tomorrow to them with it and see how it goes / see what the chumps say

4000k without maps? That's not a GPS, it's a data logger. Maps installed two units of mine crashed too often to be useable. Returned for refund.

After 5 years the rubber seals on my 800 are so warped that neither fit in the holes properly (resulting in the screen fogging up whenever it rained). I wrapped the unit up in clingfilm, then moulded a piece of Sugru over the bottom so that it covers the seals but just leaves the buttons exposed - left it overnight to harden, then remove the clingfilm and you are left with a Sugru sheath that is held in place by the standard case quite nicely.*
*I still duct tape the SD port though, belt and braces..

went back , got a new one with a three week testing period

Clever cookie. I'm just going to tape it (if I remember) and throw on one of those gel covers - maybe with the power bit cut out so I can charge it still.
Had this riding from Albertville in epic rain and then climbing the Glandon and Croix de Fer in brilliant sunshine. Got over it ;-)
