  • Are Sidi MTB shoes still the best?

My Dominators have failed (the bottom has worn down so any walking is now full-on cleat walking... they might as well be road shoes with ATAC cleats).

The thing is, Sidi shoes are expensive, and when I had super-expensive Dragons the Lorica tops only lasted a year, and so I went to cheaper Dominators but the bottoms have gone after a couple of years.

If they could pair the Dominator top halves with the Dragon SRS bottoms they'd have a shoes that could last more than 2 years.

So... £150-£200 to spend... another pair of Sidi Dominator? Or something else altogether?

Hmm... further reading suggests that Sidi got rid of the Lorica stuff on the Dragons... has anyone got a recent pair?

  • I've got the Dragon 3s and they've been great so far, I've had them about a year and there's nowt wrong with them... yet to really take them offroad and give em some proper cx action though

  • Sidi shoes are expensive

I got a pair of Giaus last year. It was hard to get because the main SIDI importers to Germany and the UK don't import them.

They don't have any fancy ratchet mechanisms but are basic and simple, which is what I wanted, and they were about €80 less than the other models, which may well be why the importers don't import them. I eventually had to get mine from a German eBay shop.

They may not be what you want, but I'm very happy with them (as I was with my previous SIDIs, which lasted for about 13 years before the Velcro straps became too fragile and I tore them).
